So what were the reasons for voting for Terra? We dismissed it because of the good chance that one team could quite easily be rushed out of the game if they end up without Copper or Horses.

Considering that twice as many teams voted for terra I somehow doubt that it really was dismissed...

...and because it's better than sitting on your arse cut off from every other team with is what archi does.

I wrote that we, i.e. Team RB, dismissed it so I don't think your reply makes sense. So why did your team vote for Terra, rather than Hub (for example)?

Ah, I misunderstod you post, didn't realise that "we" meant RB.

I doubt that many teams will explain their thoughts on the choices that they make though, but I'll explain my own reasoning; hub sucks because it is nothing more than a builders map, warfare while not imposible goes along very strict lines in the early game, and rushing (which is just a balance to stop people with amazing land building up fast) is almost impossible, so whoever gets the best land wins. Pangaea and Terra (which by definition has a pangaea for the old world) allow early contact and make teams play it safe, there is early warfare to spice up the game but you can also play builder. If anythng pangaea is the better map for balance reasons, probably the best, with an experienced map maker. Terra I'm not sure about, but pretty much everything beats archi which is nothing more than sim city.

Krill, you did note the "Snakey Continents"?

IME, it's not sim city at all, instead it often inspires ultra early rushes because it results in multiple sets of small starting landmasses with two civs on them.

The isolated starts are ther "lots of islands" subset of archepello.
