It's up! Combat summary has been posted! Finally!

I'll be leaving the combat summary exactly where it is (the end of Combat 2.0), and will be going back to edit instead of reposting the entire thing every time I make a small revision. After a few days I'll start a new topic (combat 3.0 hosted by Theben) and will have the "final" summary be its first post. At that time I will also put Combat on the Summaries thread.

      Hey Don don:

Do you want me to start on a summary for Movement + Supply?

I am checking in. Nothing to summarize since last report.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I'm finally back. Stranded in Winchester VA due to weather (Dennis), then car problems (shortly after odometer rolled past 200k). Will finish with haste (thanks for the offer, technophile).

Combat 2.0 needs locking down, as does the Combat Summary in Summaries/About the List. I've given everyone ample warning, so I daresay that the Combat posted in the summary is the final list version. Of course, if Theben returns before the list goes out this is all pending his approval, since it's his thread.

Technophile, You've done a lot of work on the COMBAT thread so it's as much your thread as mine, although I'd say that no one really "owns" a thread. We all put our hard work into the various ideas.

Shining1, will you be summarizing the Region/City Menu thread? I, and I'm certain Ember as well, would like to see our thoughts in the next list.

Have returned to South Carolina just in time to assist a couple hundred evacuees… Sure am glad we don't have hurricane micromanagement in Civ!

Movement and my Resource/Support aren't being completely neglected, but sometimes the real world gets in the way of being "productive."

Checking in, but with major problems.

Due to an unexpected job shift, I have been unable to get on the web for about 3 weeks now, couldn't make my summary yet.

Things will not improve on short term, I have no more PC at home, my new one late to arrive. I guess I'll be able to browse again within this and one week (this one is an exception)

Smilo, you know how much i love the space explotion thread... hey, i even begged Yin for the job, but he allready gave it to you.

Anyway, if you need a temp summarizer, don't hesistate to ask. I will do it gladly.

Yin/Shining, what's the contingency plan for the threads run by threadmasters who haven't "checked in" yet?

Ideally we should find volunteers to do the work. This happened on version 1 also, but not to this extent. If we can't find volunteers, we'll just have to send what we have and hope Brian wants a version 3 (final?).

If that's the case, we can setup for a final round with new TMs in place. What do you think? Is there a better way?

I've been on these boards for a long time and I still don't know what to think when it comes to you -- FrantzX, December 21, 2001

I was thinking that having two TM's for every thread would be a good idea, since things always turn up and I don't think that you'll ever be able to avoid last-minute substitutions. This way there will always be at least two people who supposedly know what is going on.

This might, however, be more trouble than it is worth. Personalities conflict sometimes, and if the co-TM's hate each other then it would be worse than having no TM at all. So you've really got to weigh the good versus the bad heavily on this one.

I would recommend against 2 TM's per thread.

Sigh.. give me an email whenever you want the summary, yin, it's been ready for awhlie. Like since the beginning of August.

Therefore this is not a syllogism.
