Rider, Numidian Merc (i wish it was a hoplite sometimes though), jaguar warrior.

sure, it wastes the golden age, but you're a swarm of f*cking locusts early game.

I really enjoy my Legions... too bad Rome starts next to TWO civs with a 3 defense in the ancient age.... woe to the non-Greek... woe to the non-Carthaginian.

            I prefer having it on.

Go ahead and suggest something if you think it may not have occured to me, but there's no need for being asinine.

            Back to discussion...
Another favorite is Gallic Swordsman... great traits mixed with nice unit stats... And look, nobody they start near has a three defense! Even a ninny like me can use them!

Even if they DID have three defense, the Fast ability makes up for it.

Legions. 3/3 for 30 shields. Combined with catapults ans offensive workers they own Immortals.

The deadliest UU is definitely the Concerned Roommate, the Real Life's UU... it comes and uninstalls Civ from your computer and makes you go jogging or something else instead... used in conjunction with the Intruding Reality Trait and the Underlying Guilt and Feeling That You're Spending Too Much Time Playing Civ trait, this UU can truly upset the balance in the game...

Mounted Warriors are great, but the lack of Ind or Mil traits makes it harder to play as the Iro's for me.

I've never been a big fan of the Immortals, maybe I've just had bad luck getting Iron when I play as Persia, but they've never really done it for me.

I suppose my favourite is the Legion or the Samurai, partly for their strength, but also for flavour reasons.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

Yeah, the Legion & Samurai are the coolest UUs.

I did forget to mention War Chariots, but Nathan's post reminded me. Unit for unit they aren't impressive, but their low cost allows you to build up a ridiculous horde and then lay waste to multiple civs. Or, alternatively, just build them for upgrade purposes. And of course, I love the Egyptian traits.v

grog want tank...Grog Want Tank... GROG WANT TANK!

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

Wait, did you just say the LEGION? Gah!

The Legion and Immortals might be alright for smaller maps, but the larger you get the more irritating these units become, IMO.

Coolest, I said, not best. I'm talking about looks & historical greatness, not utility.

                              Insolence?

I agree with you regarding the ulitiliy of those units... too slow for my tastes.

Looks-wise, I like the Mounted Warrior. Notice how the feathers in their headbands sway...
