    Moral Philosophy 101

Quite right. There is no problem with 'cheating' against a thing that has no (moral) reason or free will. You are not thereby failing to respect any dignity which is due to it. Cheating (without the inverted commas) is a no-no against human beings who possess both (moral) reason and free will, and therefore a dignity which must be respected.

Unless, that is, you think that cheating against a creation of Sid Meier is inherently sacriligious.

I guess my biggest problem with cheating is this: Why bother playing the game at all. I mean, I spent (****, I forgot how much money I spent-I have got to stop staying up so late! At any rate, I spent money) on this game and it seems kind of pointless to start out by cheating. The game quickly loses it's fun value, and you end up with a small frisbee that you paid good money on.

Now, granted, on really tough games where I was going to lose *anyways*, I've cheated (usually on Deity level in Civ2. I loved imagining the looks on my opponents faces as tanks suddenly appeared out of nowhere circling their cities). But I always try to win the game honestly first. So far, I haven't regretted spending my money on any incarnation of Civ.
