I sort of outlined my idea for running the team in another one of the threads

Here were my ideas posted on the other thread. In case you missed them.
Warrior Poets
Traits - Militaristic and something else.
Theme - a civ of romatic conquerors, who always seem to come up a bit short because they stop to postulate lyrically everytime they conguer a new city, or meet Cleopatra. Their main objective in the game is to be the first to reach Free Artistry.
Game Play - mixed - which means "We ain't givin' anything away before the game starts."
Icon - a parchment scroll, or book, or the like.
Shakespearians
Traits - just plain well spoken.
Theme - a civ dedicated to re-living the great bard's finest works through the civ III (No, of course I don't have the faintest idea what this means in game terms - other than a drive for the Theatre of course.) But you know, the other Civ's will never be sure whether its a tragedy or comedy coming their way....
Game Play - mixed - which means "We ain't givin' anything away before the game starts."
Icon - something that looks like Shakespeare.
Believers
Traits - religious and something else.
Theme - a civ dedicated to building a civilization through the contsruction of every religious improvement (I know, I know, it happens anyway) and spreading the True Word to the rest of the world - this means you, Togas followers, and you, Legoheads.
Game Play - mixed - which means "We ain't givin' anything away before the game starts."
Icon - an icon. Yes - an eastern European orthodox icon. Jeweled cross or the like.
Canine (not Canaan)
Traits - militaristic
Theme - a civ that's gone to the dogs. Cities are named after breeds or dog heroes - Shnauzerville, Weiner City, and Rin Tin Tin. Our main objective is to build a sufficient infrastructure to guarantee fire hydrants at all city intersections, and then when that's done - we come looking for someone else to p*ss on. On a more game related note, this civ would truly be "dogs of war". Other than of course the poodles who stay behind to irrigate and build roads.
Game play - aggressive to mixed.
Icon - you guessed it - a German Shepherd, or Doberman, or some equally fear-inspiring canine.
Now - given what Jon has proposed about game play - the first thing that came to my mind was Italian politics - I'm talking about the last 50 years or so, not the Machiavellian stuff (although that might be more appropriate to civ building). Yes - the last 50 years where they have had some innumerable number of governments - wasn't it in the 40's range. So, our civ will be based on frequent gov't changes, and lots of votes of non-confidence. Throw in a mafia-related trial and we are right on topic. So, I suggest:
Martini and Rossi (or Martini for short)
Traits - whatever - maybe we would want to play the Romans, but hey, guess not.
Theme - well - the theme is generally the government style. Let's see if it works. If not, load in the gin or vodka, make it a true Martini, and look elsewhere for your entertainment (oh - Cleo!).
Game Play - mixed - which means "We ain't givin' anything away before the game starts."
Icon - yes - of course - a Martini glass.
Vox Controli
Traits - to be determined.
Theme: a quasi-democratic approach, where the voice of the Controller rules. The collective will, experience, and inspiration of the people are focused through one voice, one controller with the ultimate aim being - "To build the the strongest civilization yet known, and if necessary, to impose our will on the lesser populations of the world."
(That is of course - until we impeach the yahoo.)
Game play - yes, of course - to be determined.
Icon - blood red banner with a white or gold "V" on it - representing concurrently - One Voice, to Victory.
Cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war .... aw, forget that nonsense. Beer, please.
