It was the period between 1895 and 1914 IIRC. "Beautiful period" when translated in English, because it was characterized by scientific breakthroughs which raised quality of life (such as mass - electricity), mostly peace, and a trust in the bright future...
That is, if you belonged to the Bourgeoisie of western Europe or US, for all the others, the period was less than beautiful
