As for other civs... you guys apparently REALLY like the scientific trait... interesting
What's wrong with scientific? Spearmen from the start and 1 tech away from swords could be a very powerful asset in MP. Plus, with reduced tech trading the bonus techs are very welcome. As for the civ choice, we should indeed do this private. Let's stop all these nitpicking arguments and spam fights there and discuss stuff that really matters. We are a team, are we?
But hey... the leader of the Vikings looks really scary .

I have no problem with the scientific trait... it's one of my favorites (commericial is my favorite, but I like to take either scientific or religious with it).
I'm just noting that your team seems to have prioritized the scientific trait, while other teams have prioritized different traits. That's not to say that any team considers other traits necessarily less important or that the one trait is ESSENTIAL or anything, just that all or almost all of the civs they're looking at have that one trait... an interesting trend.
What's even more interesting is that each team has prioritized a different trait... I honestly didn't expect that. I had figured that everyone would likely think that one trait (likely Industrious) or perhaps 2 were far and above the best traits.

This information surprises me as well. Considering most here are either from the C3DG or the PBEM threads, there is much more variety here than I originally thought there would be....
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?
Then why call him God? - Epicurus
sorry, i just realized the basic rule of trash talking was absent from this thread.
carry on.

Interresting, Sir Ralph wants to become a Viking.
Vikings are militaristic in civ3 right?
I've heard so much false-info about my ancestors not being civilized. This is completely wrong. Ok, they did alot killing.
Their bloodstained behaviour overseas could have looked a bit like that of Japan. But that was the kick they got overseas.
The Viking civilization had a suprisingly advanced culture at home.
It was never to become an empire with fortified borders and intricate foreign policy. There were some small kings or Jarls, ruling different regions, showing eachother muscles while preparing their mutual Longboat-navy and their mutual defense. Later, three countries were forged, and became Empire-like civs in the middle ages... Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
But there is no such thing as a "Viking Empire"
Vikings had developed polytheism, alphabet, navigation, etc. on their own. The ancient cultural traditions are still kept alive in some parts of Norway. - Such as blooding where they drink blood of animals, in a ritual. (bloting)

Am taking your request up with the team, nbarclay. Closed would not be exactly the right term. Restricted would be better.
We have decided to put a limit on membership and to consider each person asking to join in turn. We will let you know ASAP, but it takes a couple of days.

Thank you. I'm sure all of that is correct, and it's quite interesting, but why post it? Were any of us saying that the Vikings were bloodthirsty and uncivilised?
Why get defensive when you're not being attacked?
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.
