The next time , Firaxis really ought to include a manual.
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

Are you willing to wait that long? If so then go ahead! If not then simply switch over to what you want to build and make the Palace later. Also, there is a buildling called the "Forbidden Palace" that can be built in any city and serves the same as a capital WITHOUT actually moving your capital. Are you moving because you want to reduce corruption?

It is possible to change your capital to the nearest city, by abandoning your current capital. Didn't say it was smart, but I suppose there are rare cases when it would be prudent.

It then goes to the next most productive city, not necessarily the closest city.

                  ACK!

Given levels of corruption, it's possible the nearest city IS the most productive!

I thought it was the "most important" city, the palace goes to...while "most important" is based on population and wonders. Isn't the "free palace jump" based on that?

                          Mazz:

Just a thought, if you happen to have a great leader lying around then you could use it to rush the palace.

This is true. I just used a leader to rush my Forbidden Palace in my last game. Saved about 89 turns!

In many games I start my first war just to get a GL and rush the Forbidden Palace.
