    YAFB (Yet Another Firakis Blunder)

Is it just me or is anybody else bothered by the fact that PTW did not include the DyP graphics?

It looks like a great mod but 28mb at ~40kbps means I'll never see it!

It wasn't a 'blunder'. Up until the last minute it did have them. Some of the graphics may have been copyrighted images and Infogrames wasn't willing to take the lawsuit risk of including them. Just before the disks were mastered, they (Infogrames) yanked them out.

Just try it, Salkin. I only have dial-up and it took me only an hour and a half to download. Surely you can spare two hours..."

I can spare the time. The question is, can my ISP refrain from disconnecting me for that long.
(I tried one of those file restarting programs and it blew up my browser! ) I guess I'll have to find someone with broadband and have them burn a copy for me.

Or failing broadband, at least get you a download manager (lightning download has no spyware afaik) so if you DO lose conn, you can resume. I used to be in your shoes...

Im not totally up to speed on the DyP mod, and I read that some of the graphics got pulled just before they released the CD for legal issues.

Last night I tried this mod for the first time, played for about 45 mins before I got to yet another tech in which I had to read exactly what it did. It showed a list of units now available aswell, so I clicked on the first one which was 'bombard' unit? (i thought that was an action, not a unit) As soon as I clicked on it, it said something like 'cannot find ****.bix blah blah, program will close' shutting down civ3 resulting in me losing my game (glad it was only 45). So I started a new game and turned auto-save on. Then later I d/led the patch for it and installed it. Havent tried it yet but I hope it fixes all the graphic and civolpedia b/c this looks like a sweet mod, very interesting new abilties for units and such...

If you don't live in a major metropolitan area, that's still hard to do yet.

Looks interesting... I'm kind of working on my own, simple mod, but it's more like increasing movement of planes/boats, lessing corruption and increasing bombard strength of planes. As I prefer maps 200x200 and above, especially the movement of boats needs a big adjustment.

But anyhow, I must try this once.

Try openoffice if no pdf or other "common" format will be available.

What kind of browser are you using? Try Opera. It has a built-in download manager and if it crashes you can still continue when you restart it. Take some minutes to get used to it if you're using IE, but it's great!

I'm trying out PTW now, as England, on huge with 15 civs (one for each possible attribute pairing.). I'm playing England on regent.

As of 1500AD, I am still in the Ancient Era (trying to get vassalage), 2 civs have already been KOed. England started on an absolutely crappy island, southern part jungle, northern part desert, with a narrow band of good land in the center. There is only ONE horse, ONE elephant, NO iron, NO luxury resources, etc. I have finally contacted about 8 civs sharing a large continent, several techs ahead of me, except for the Zulus. I did luck out and got Golden Age w/the Great Lighthouse earlier.

                      Some glitches I have found:

I can build temples even though I have no incense.
I can build slave markets even though there are no "natives". Since the resource link is broken, can I conclude that natives did not make it to the game?

                        hi guys,

I visit these boards maybe once a week, if that, so for quicker response to any questions I suggest asking them at the DyP forums.

                        Holy Warrior,

Natives didn't make it into the final cut, and there are still "some" (read quite a few) civilopedia errors.

We are always looking for someone to help out with the civilopedia.

Double Your Pleasure mod has Slave Markets, they increase your production but cause unhappiness. The unhappiness is counteracted later in the mod by building Emancipation.
