No, DarthVeda thinks that Firaxis will give us altered starts, and that is all.
we'll have true scenario editing tools
Depending on your definition, you're either wrong, or have the patience of a mountain.
    Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

My all time favorite Civ2 scen: Crises of the New World, 1992-2025. With Civ3's expanded diplomacy it could become so much messier. And how about some sort of secret treaty for a WWI scenario that was a mutual defense or military alliance against only certain powers. Finally, is it me, or does the AI never want to sign a trade embargo unless it is only some forsaken patch of desert?

I've been looking for a map of the British Isles (including Ireland, Channel Isles, Irish Sea, Scotland, Hebrides).

A scenario based around the unification of the 'United' Kingdom could be great fun (circa 1000 AD). I've been debating adding a fantasy flair to it as well ... the image of knights and soldiers in chain mail and swords ... well, my mind slips into 'Swords and Sorcery' mode and thoughts of wizards and such soon follow.

Nations to include Irish, Welsh, Scot, English, Camelot (the fantasy flair rears up), and others ...

Has anyone seen a scenario like this ?
Thank god, there are no KENDER in Civ3.

To change the flow of this thread a little let me say this.

I really love WWII scenarios but am unsure about the quality of the scenario that Firaxis can make. I find that members of the civ community usually do much better at making WWII scenarios. They come out with cool looking units, sounds, etc.

So hopefully PTW will have the tools necessary for scenario makers to work their magic!

                Haupt. Dietrich :
I think that's what will happen : Firaxians know they can't match the fans in terms of scenario creation, and that's why they give us the editor 3 months before the XP comes out. Thay want to implement fanmade scenarios in the PtW box.

                Immortal :
Considering that I can play Civ3 with single player, and as I'll be able to play primitive (read : without events) scenarios... Yes, I have the patience of a mountain. I think the scenario editor with events will be ready in October 2003 or before, if PtW sales are good. It's possible it comes in an XP, among other things. Remember Civ2.
But I imagine you consider scenarios are much much better than regular games. And maybe you're tired to play Civ3. In this case, I understand you're impatient and pissed by Firaxis.

                  Spiffor, that's all good then
Actually, I'm neither impatient, nor pissed at Firaxis, it just amuses me.
Scenarios can be better than regular games. Depends on the quality of the scenario. Which depends on the quality of the scenario tools
