  • PTW screenshots reveal new Civs

The PTW screenshots posted at Adrenaline Vault reveal some of the new Civilizations in the expansion pack:

    Vikings
    Spanish
    Mongols
    Carthaginians

They also show at least two new tile improvements:

    Airport
    Radar tower

Plus, there are some new buttons on the main screen:

    next/last city
    next/last unit
    and others.

I hate to pay again for a game I already have, but it looks good so far.

Wooooo hooooooo!!!! Airports! It's about time!

Spanish UU... Conquistador.. a 5.3.3... is that a new knight? 3 movement and attack of 5? Sheesh.

From the player setup screen, it looks as though you can't play custom maps or scenarios... Hmmm...

airports should be worth about as much as paratroopers are now.

I think that's why they didn't implemented it in the original game, but you know how a demanding fan can be loud

Sorry for the redundant thread here. I haven't been reading the PTW forum, so I didn't see that looong thread on new civs.

It also showed the Viking UU, the Berserk and the Mongol, some sort of horseman/mounted archer. The Spanish conquistidor does surprise me however, I was hoping for a Tercio.

i assume you mean paratroopers are worth jack poopie

but actually airbases could be useful, it would move the aircraft's base of operations a few spaces foward (for defense) and would provide allies a way of sharing land (if you cant garrison allied cities)

Civs we 100% know are there:
                    1. Spain (UU, leaderhead, civ name in corner of screenshot)
                    2. Mongols (ditto)
                    3. Carthaginian (MP setup).

Civs we are almost sure of:
                    4. Koreans (UU image)
                    5. Celts (leader mentioned at infrogrames)
                    6. Vikings (city names in screenshot)

                      No, it's a weakened cavalry.

Seriously, it can't be a knight, as Spain is just researching Feudalism. So they must

                      - either have substantially changed the tech tree (chivalry before feudalism? )
                      - or substantially have changed the A/D/R values of all units, bacause an ancient (pre-feudal) 5/3/3 unit would be extremely imbalancing with the existing unit values.
                      - or have faked that image (most likely).

The stats of the Conquistador can't be in concrete at this stage. They might reconsider and give them different stats.

The only things I see as concrete so far are the four civs already mentioned and their leaders.

Yeah, the terrain is definitely ugly. But that's why we have Sn00py, right?

True, you're probably right. They've probably done some modding of their own. That has to be a modded knight... there's no way they'd give us a 5.3.3 Horsemen variant, no matter how much they've changed things. We'll just have to wait and see I guess...
