    Here's my new philosophy regarding purchasing computer games.

    I won't buy any until I'm absolutely sure that it's worth it. I won't get burned again, no no, not like I did when I rushed out like a trained dog and bought Civ3 LE the very day it hit the stores.

      i'll get it a day in advance, curse out the boards, and get banned for 6 months. then show up again ranting about how much it sucks.

      worked last time.

        XP's already out. I believe Microsoft debutted it on Oct 25th or something. Windows forever!

          I am a 'Single Player' kind of guy. Scenarios are fine for a couple of plays, but I have never found a scenario game for Civ2 that wasn't way unbalanced. To me the great draw of CIV is the mystery of how the world is shaped. Every game is different, a unique RPG-type* situation. The random map is KING (well, actually Diety, uh, God)!

          So, I don't think so, but maybe time will change my mind

          *No, I am not referring to 'rocket propelled grenades.'

          You should know that Microsoft is a great COPIER of concepts. The Windows metaphor was developed by APPLE!

          Actually, the Windows XP system works rather well on the Windoze system I purchased to play Civ3 on; but that is ALL I do on it.

            I'm not saying XP is bad by any means. Just that the upcoming expansion pack for Civ3 is not "XP."

                However, it is difficult to believe that 2 times 2 does not equal 4; does that make it true? On the other hand, is it really so difficult simply to accept everything that one has been brought up on and that has gradually struck deep roots – what is considered truth in the circle of moreover, really comforts and elevates man? Is that more difficult than to strike new paths, fighting the habitual, experiencing the insecurity of independence and the frequent wavering of one’s feelings and even one’s conscience, proceeding often without any consolation, but ever with the eternal goal of the true, the beautiful, and the good? - F.N.

                      Code:
                      for (i = 0; i < 65535; i++)
                         cout << "XP == Expansion Pack :p";

                        I'll give you two guesses.

                        The one that doesn't include "bribe a flunky at the local game store to get it a day early" doesn't count.

                          In all honesty, I don't think I will get the XP. I downloaded the latest patch, installed it, but have yet to even start a game with it.

                              If the XP includes pbem, I will buy it.
                              Otherwise, no.
