Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Well IMO its about the best strat game out right now. Moo3 is rediculous, there is almost nothing to do since it's all automated. And thats an even worse wargame.
Got any suggestions on better games for single player?
Unfortunately, no. I still havent tried WC III, age of mythology, or medieval war. Each of which should be entertaining for a while even if they tend to be clickfests. RON will be out soon and warlords IV which will have what civ3 should have had, tactical combat(which was apparently nixed by SM himself). I hope the beta of Candle'bre from Vel and the team will be fun.
Hehe, you will like Medieval Total War, it makes me feel like im really the King of Britain when I play it. It takes a lot of planning, and really isn't a click fest especially when you fight those friggin' Alhomad Muslim bastards. They got 50 cent fire pot slaves that throw little bombs, and scare off half your army. That game is a masterpiece.
Warcraft 3 is a click fest, but without all the planning of Starcraft (perhaps the best "strategy" game of all time....damn koreans)
Age of Mythology is interesting, but it gets old quick, since the uber cheat AI of AoK is fighting you.
Last I heard Warlords 4 is a long way off.....and it will probably bomb like Moo3.
If you like World War 2 and have a decent comp, get Hearts of Iron, with the patces its a decent game. Nothing like biting your nails thinking if you can defeat Russia with 30 less divisions while you sit on thier Polish border.
By they way, if you add Tactical combat to Civ3 you get Call to Power 2. And nobody wants that now do they?
Look to the future, I will bury Sid Meier as the undisputed King of Strategy. Forget Chris Crawford, its StSwf. I'll have stickers on my gameboxes like intel.

"StSwf Inside"
Mark my words.
CtP2 didnt have tactical combat (at least not in the sense that I'm thinking). CIV 3 should have had an option to fight battles with the forces at hand in a shogun/MW style. It was sort of done with an old game called lord of the realms. SM already had the game engine from the very good Gettysburg/Antietam games.
Let me stay in the game for one more week. I think there is a computer in the faculty room that I can use after school hours. I'll try to install Civ on that computer. I'll try that on Monday and if it doesn't work then you can find a replacement for me. Sorry about this.

Even better news! Tomorrow all the teachers at this school will get new computers! I won't have to wait for my coworker to finish her work in the evenings. I just have to wait until the vice-principal goes to lunch . . . .
We're using the 1.14 patch, right? No decision to upgrade yet?

Patching across the PBEM games has become a disaster (Firaxis idiots). Stay with 1.14 (the alternative is to do a dual install a la Sir Ralphs method if you play a lot of MP).
