    • At the current rate I expect we will be at 1930 AD when Civ 4 comes out.

      • So where is the turn right now?

        Comment

        • Hard to tell, since half of us never post here when they send the turn

If someone is taking always 3 days to take turns and never post here when sent, maybe consider someone more interested to take over the game ?

Myself i'm getting very bored with this game since turns take ages to go round.

          • I have yet to receive, please resend ananias or find a replacement, or whatever. I don't want to be the reason this game goes down. With the way things are going on my end, the delays may pile up to the detriment of others, and I don't know when that would no longer be the case. Sry guys.

This time, though, I did not get the file, and I was burried in snow, etc...If you want to replace me, that's fine if that's the group decision.

            • IMHO, I'm not so sure we actually need to replace anyone unless there are folks who don't want to continue. However, I do think we need to set a few ground rules around always posting a turn notification in the thread, and putting a time limit in place after which the player is skipped by SirOsis. I really want to continue this game with everyone involved, but I do agree we need to do something to get it moving faster.

              • I'm not up to replacing anyone as of yet. I think we are all committed to this game.

I would like it however, if after you email the turn you post that you sent it in this forum. That way if there is any error in sending/receiving the turn it will be noticed sooner.

Didn't realize there was another page with your post Clegg.

Basically it comes down to this:

After you send the turn post in this forum.

                • I'm going to resend ananias my last save. He is very reliable and usually plays promptly. Hopefully, we can get rolling again, because I've had a good start

                  • I don't know what happened, apologies all around if it was my fault.

                        • I think we need this rule:

If you don't post in 48 hours, SirOsis requests the turn from the last poster, and then plays it and sends it on.

You don't even have to play your turn. You just have to POST so people know you didn't die or something.

                          • I'd rather not get into the business of skipping turns. It is a pain for me and I think it detracts from the game.

The game is definately moving slower than expected. I am not sure how to address this problem. Possibly a substitute player or something.

People do go away on weekends and vacations. Maybe if you know ahead of time you will be gone for a period of time (over 72hrs) you get a substitute player.

Ideally if Firaxis could put in code that allows a central "server" where you upload your turn. You then login and take your turn and it emails the next player that the turn is ready for them. You could then set time limits on the turn and have it automatically skipped if the turn is not taken in that time frame.

I don't have much hope of that happening though since there hasn't been a patch to fix the bugs in this game in quite awhile.

                            • There's been talk going on that a new patch would come out within a month. I sure hope thats the case.

BtW, last post from Swissy, who now is on the play turn, is 08-02-2003 00:37...

Thats almost 3 weeks ago ! I'm very concerned if he's ever going to play his turn.
