I'd like to start an 8 player game on a Large map. This game is going to take quite awhile so please consider this when signing up. I would like it to go fast in the beginning. I hope for 2 turns a day. With 8 people this will not be easy but if we coordinate schedules I think it is possible.

Everything will be random with the exception of the map size and the civ you want to play. I am currently running 1.14.

    I'll be the Babylonians.

Count me in for the long haul, random Civ. I'll PM you my e-mail address to avoid the infamous spam bots.

In case you want to schedule a kickoff session at the beginning via IM, I'm in MST (GMT-7). Available most weekends.

I would like to play although the map size is daunting. Dr Fell recommends a double-move option if we use accelerated production.

        Double move option?

I guess the Eli's question means I misinterpreted something Dr Fell said in the strat forum

"Adding a doubled moves option might have helped. The upgrade costs are halved, btw, as they're based on the number of shields difference between the old and new unit."

I was complaining on a thread in the strategy forum that accelerated production unbalanced the game.

On rereading his reply to my whining, I now see that he might have been directing the doubled moves comment at Firaxis, suggesting it as a way to fix the problem, rather than telling me that such an option already existed. Too bad, his idea is good.

I realize the map size is daunting. I wanted it that way. I don't want accelerated production since I want my civ3 pure.

Since the map is large I recognize this will take a signigificant amount of time but I think it will be worth it. If we get dedicated players that can take turns fast in the beginning it shouldn't be too bad.

BTW, Egypt would be my preferred civ if that's ok.

BTW, I am EST, and mornings and night are best for turn generation.

                      Here is where we stand:

                      SirOsis - Babylonians - PST
                      Clegg - Random - MST
                      jshelr - Egyptians - EST
                      WarriorPoet - Celts - EST

I usually take my turns around 8am and 6pm.

                      We're halfway there.

I have a 5.45am to 7am shift doing a review of overnight trading activity. Then, I have about 45 minutes for breakfast and to put a tie on. I could do a turn then. Also, I get off early, about 3pm. So I could do a turn before most people in the States but after those in Europe. In other words, pretend I'm in Bermuda.

I'd like to be vikings. I'm in EST but prefer a 1am turn. I am willing to also do a second turn any other time (except 7am-4pm SOME weekdays).

so you might want to pretend I'm somewhere floating aorund in the pacific ocean

will repeat this message in pm with e-mail address.

I'm usually able to fit a turn in at most times of the day with a quick break from work

However, best times are early morning before 6 am, lunch time ~12 pm, or evening 7 pm - 10 pm. All times MST.

Looking forward to a good game with some dedicated folks. Had a similar experience to Warrior Poets with games falling apart over time. I also like the idea of a "pure" civ3 game (no accelerated production, etc), and getting a turn or more per day if possible.

                              So that's one more.

                              SirOsis - Babylonians - PST
                              Clegg - Random - MST
                              jshelr - Egyptians - EST
                              WarriorPoet - Celts - EST
                              Ananias - Scandanavians - EST

Once we get the other 3 players we can work on the schedule we think would work best. This might mean that someone other than myself sets up the game, which is fine by me.
