I wonder if I'm having a problem with my set-up.

I'm trying to declare war on the Japanese (nothing personal ) but when I open up the diplo screen, there's no option to declare war. I don't think I've ever seen that option in any of the PBEM games I've been in.

The last time, I declared war on the Japanese (really... it's not personal) I did it indirectly via an offer of an alliance with the English.

Any thoughts?

Try this
Bring up the diplo screen, then bring up "active deals"
Click on "peace treaty" to declare war.

But .....

I think there is also flaw within PBEM.

If peace is accepted, you must run out the full 20 turns of peace. (You will see that in the active deal area..it should say xx turns left)

So you will not be able to declare war on me manually.

The only way around it, is to actually attack a unit.

Just send a galley over... I will be happy to sink it for you

You're right. I can't declare war on you manually.

I've asked Conqueror to offer me the 'alliance vs Japanese' and we'll see if that works.

I have another idea.... Send over a boatload of Settlers and I'll attack them.

Cant do that, when i diplo with you, it shows that we are already in alliance vs Japan, and theres 20 turns of it left Even tho i never accepted or offered any alliance When you said you offered the alliance, the offer box was empty

If i try to check f4 screen 'active' deals with either one of you, game instantly crashes

I also got some blank msg box after ending my turn, hope no bugs again...
