This post is from the strat forum and is about a list of players we are getting together to start games early next year. You guys are "reliable vets" and we would love to have you folks participate if you have an interest.
The Post
I would be happy to organize several small PBEM games, with people who contribute to these strat threads anchoring the games.
PBEM works well when games are kept to a small number of people who enjoy the prospect of a game that gradually builds toward an interesting series of encounters with human opponents -- and who respond regularly.
If you think this would be fun, just post your comment and email and we will see if we can get some groups going. There is no hurry. We expect to start right after the holidays.
As of Wednesday, we had the following expressions of interest that seem likely to produce several good games.

Its not that I dont agree with mods (I've made enough of my own in the past) but I dont see any advantage to playing the AU mod PBEM especially since I disagree with some of the changes. What I like most about it is the reworking of the timing and importance of some of the modern-era wonders and the material delay in the SS launch. But, as you say, if you don't like the mod these games are probably not for you.

I think the point is that many of the changes were made to allow the AI better use of its units (which is reasonable in SP). I see the AI civs in PtW as 'fillers' since a game with 8-12 humans will take too long so I dont see the need for the changes.We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI
