• PBEM: A Simple Normal Game

Welcome to A Simple Normal Game (ASNG)

*******************************************
This is a game in progress. All slots are presently full.
*******************************************

I am very excited to try a PBEM game against a group of mature, committed players. Looking for 4-6 players (including myself) who would be willing to play a simple, normal game of Civ3 PTW.

Random map- geography, age, etc. set to middle values, barbarians negotiable.
Will add 2-3 computer opponents depending on number of human players.

Turns played as often as possible, but patience is appreciated. At least one turn per day is expected.

The main thing I want is people who will play to the end. I love the challenge of coming back when I am losing, and I think that it is more realistic to play civ when people do the best they can with what they are given.

Current Players:
1: Ayronis (Iroquois) - natework3 at hotmail dot com
2: Mad Bomber (Korea) - EMHter at aol dot com
3: Clegg (Mongols) - Jbirdsall at comcast dot net
4: Tragicus (Carthaginians) - msampaio at vianetworks dot pt
5: Conqueror (Greeks) - conqueror at mbnet dot fi
6: Gyromancer (Japanese) - morristm at bellatlantic dot net
7: Computer (Roman)
8: Computer (English)

Game Status and Planned Unavailability:
**************************************************
There are no planned unavailabilities, play should be proceeding normally.
**************************************************
Don't forget: We now have a 36 hour rule. Your turn will be skipped if you do not take your turn within 36 hours of recieving the save file. To prevent this, please make sure to tell us when you will be unavailable. All planned unavailabilities are listed above.

I keep a record of all my civ games here.

Although I'd like to see a slightly less simple, less normal game, I suppose it would probably be prudent to go for a simple one to start off with, so count me in.

Is this random civs, or are you not claiming any civ yet out of politeness?

I didn't claim a civ out of politeness... There are so many I enjoy I figured I would wait until people voice opinions.

If you wish to claim a civ do so, and I will add it to the list.

Since its early after the Play The World release I thought a simple game would be most prudent.
At least for me... playing with humans will make it much less simple than anything I am used to.

In that case, put me down for Korea. My guess is that I'm going to get smeared right off the bat regardless, so it would be rude to waste hoplites. :P

I'll take a random civ just to make thing interesting.

Do you have a preference for 4-6 human players?

Unless anyone has another opinion, I will probably raise the players to 8 with AI's. :-)

As for the barbarians, I will set them at Restless (right in the middle), unless someone wants it otherwise.

The Game will begin tomarrow night- late. If Slots 5-6 are filled by then, fine. If not, thats fine too.

There will be 8 Players total (AI's will be used to fill in the rest). The AI will be set to Regent.

It will be a standard map, with middle values for Climate, Wetness, Time, and Continents.

Barbarians will be set for Restless.

Finally we ask that you do not drop the game unless you have been totally defeated. This adds a sense of realism to the game and presents more enjoyable challenges to mature players. Also, a degree of patience is appreciated. (Though ideally turns will be played at least once daily.)

Please respond with an email address so that I can contact you will the full diretions by Monday night (EST).

Is there still room in this PBEM game ?
If there is, I could join in as the Greeks.

Yes, the patch is a good idea.

The game is now full! We will begin as soon as I receive Random Passerby's and Clegg's email addresses.

Also, I received an additional person who may play as an alternate if someone should have to quit midgame.
