I was rather more thinking that Spain returns the 2 French cities and is allowed to continue to exist. As England persuaded France into the attack on the Dutch I cannot accept any settlement that leaves France worse off than before Spain's aggression.

Unless you are ready to invade England as well?

Since you have invited us it would be rude to turn down your offer.

The Spanish towns of Lyons and Marseilles will not be handed over to the atheistic French. They can found their own towns.

Which two are you talking about?

The English heathens speak strong words for cowardly dogs who refuse to fight. They doth seem quite ferocious barking at their betters from across the English Channel.

I hath heard noy one peep of further heresy from the French heretics. Hath they seen the error of their ways? The Church is prepared to embrace the Repentatent.

                • I really do feel sorry for France, England just left you to fend for your little lonesome against Spain and her Conquistidors.

                    • Ok - I acknowledge I am getting my butt kicked here - but there is something that is really unclear to me - and I need to figure it out before I play the next turn.

It says Conquistadors treat all terrain as is if it was roaded. Ok - I can understand that. But does that also apply to foreign territory. In other words - can you move 3 spaces for each mp through my territory.

For instance - I cannot figure out how you made some of your moves this turn. And last turn when you captured my worker, pillaged a tile, and were still able to withdraw.

                      Can someone help here.

                      • Yes, ATR means each tile in foreign territory only takes 1/3 of a movement point. Capturing a worker or pillaging a tile takes 1 movement point.

So a conquistador can move onto the tile across the border, capture a worker or pillage the tile, and get back to friendly territory in one turn.

The answer to conquistadors is build fortresses with barricades on the border and kill the invaders with knights. Unfortunately France did not have time to put these measures in place.

It is also worth remembering here that the conquistador has triggered Spain's GA. The Portuguese start in a GA thanks to Dias's Voyage. France needs Gunpowder for musketeers whilst the English need Piracy to build the sea dog to trigger their GA's.

                        • Yes, the Conquistidors treat all terrain as road in enemy territory. They are amphibious in this scenario. And I also had an idea that Engand/France were up to something so I built a lot of them.

Each attack by a Conquistidor takes on full movement point. Each move takes 1/3 per tile so if I move one tile and attack I can still move 2/3 or two tiles before my movement is expended.

And yes both Portugal and Spain are in their Golden Ages now. Course Spain triggered her Golden Age a few turns before we attacked France on an Incan scout.

                              • Cerb and GF - thanks for clarifying. Wish I knew this before I played the last two turns.

Ah well - chalk one up to experience. Let's see what I can do with this mess.

My apologies for the delay folks. I was out of twon for the weekend, and needed this matter cleared up before I could play any further.
