  • The recent Spanish aggression against France was a purely opportunistic foray. With the riches of the New World opening up further war in europe is likely to harm all the remaining european nations. There was an opportunity to draw a line under war in europe and Spain and Portugal have chosen not to take it.

Incidentally, having your capital captured by another civ is one thing, deliberately abandoning it to relocate to the New World something else. No-one was thinking of doing that, were they? Or allowing themselves to be overrun?

      • Oh, you may delude yourselves into thinking your all innocent. But seeing as you completely massacred Holland why didn't do anything to you but sell you tulips and chocolate, all you wanted was breathing time to regroup your troops before attacking Spain and Portugal.

Your EVILNESS reaks from across the strait, your sinfulness is an abomination to the righteous, thou shalt be chastised!

        • Does that mean you won't trade techs with us?

          • The English Crown needs no lectures on morality from those who persist in eating the unmentionable bits of various animals. We have offered a comprehensive peace agreement in good faith and had it rejected by the nasty, wicked, opportunistic Spanish.

Further the aforesaid Spanish have subverted the hitherto noble Portuguese into their militaristic folly. There will be a day of reckoning for those who persist in the folly of war beyond the appointed day and beyond the hour God has set aside for the resolution of conflict.

The gracious Dutch have accepted the verdict of history. Unless Spain and Portugal accept that verdict too, history will record their passing into oblivion.

            • The Pope said nothing about not trading techs with the Devil or his minions, so I assume tech trading is fine and dandy. We could always use the poor homeless Dutch as a middleman.

              Silly Protestants.

                • Actually, I see this a good equalizer, by us trading through the Dutch, the Dutch get all the techs we have been working on, a great opportunity for them as they have a disadvantage in tech capabilities now.

                    • Settling in the New World is sounding better and better. The Dutch will be content to garden and live peacefully in a new land far from politics and chest thumping.

True. Both are at the "squat, zero, zilch" level.

I'm still amazed that you retook Lyons. I mean I actually had a unit in it. That would mean French forces killed something.

Unless, their were English artillery nearby which killed the unit and the French were able to win a token victory....

I guess Spain might consider peace at this point, are you suggesting a cease of hostilities? Your side gained two cities our side gained two cities, seems like a fair draw to me.
