  • Two versus random four PBEM

Kloreep & Daddy-O (random civs) in a locked alliance, versus two pairs of locked alliance AIs.

    Emperor difficulty, continents map.

I had to randomize the civs myself in order to set the locked alliances, so here are the civs:

    The Humans
    Kloreep: Sumeria
    Daddy-O: Egypt

    Evil AIs (AI group 1)
    Babylon
    Aztecs

    PITAs (AI group 2)
    Japan
    China

I'll set up the game now. Daddy-O, I just realized we didn't specify map size, but with 6 civs I'm going to go for small.

I started by the coast in grassland. A move with the worker onto a hill revealed that the hill would be a nice coastal spot, so I moved the settler there; will found next turn. I can see tundra to the south, so I'm on the southern edge of the map. No fresh water in sight, so my agricultural trait may not help to start with.

BTW, I got a palace improvement when I started the game, which was rather odd. Hopefully I've set things up right.

        Small map is perfect.

I too got the palace improvement before I even started. Now that I you did too I don't feel as special.

I'm on the grass, with a river to me fresh water. Looks like I've got gold in a mtn. I moved my settler to the east so I can found on the coast. Hopefully it's the sea and not a lake.

I can see game to the North. Perfect for a second city.

I am dead center on the mini map.

Golden Shores is founded. Just outside the borders is cattle and some huts for tipping. I am studying Bronze Working with everything I've got.

Nice. How'd you tip a hut this early?

The hut was just outside my cities borders so I marched a Worker there and tipped. Beauty Eh?

So, for all the excitement of last turn. There was none this turn.

Heh, we can. Good thing you noticed, I wouldn't have. Guess we don't have to worry about contact. And we can cooperate on tech.

I've sent you BW which should free up your research. Maybe go for The Wheel next? Warrior Code could come in handy too.

One thing that might really help us is to use the free tech from discovering Philo first (if we can do that) to slingshot to an expensive tech. Republic is a great tech for that since it would cost so much to research. However, to do that, we first need to get Alphabet & Writing. Then we'd need to have the faster researcher go for Code of Laws while the slower one goes for Philo - slowing down research if necessary. The faster gets CoL first, trades to the other, and boom, Republic as a free tech.

Alternately, we can also go for Construction via this route, but it isn't quite as expensive as Republic so wouldn't gain as many beakers. The upside, though, is that Construction's prerequisites can be researched by one of us while the other is still on writing, allowing research of Philo ASAP after the discovery of writing - less risky on losing out on a free tech altogether.

You seem to have a good grasp on the tech side.
What do you want my Tech slider set too?
                              What should I study next?
