        • I just had a repeat of war being declared on me...

Looking in the diplo screen, our diplo data is clearly messed up. Given that this happened again, letting the war be declared would once again be temporary only.

I'd like to see if an outside party like Gramphos can straighten this out before I send the save on and lose the luxury I'm trading for...

Edit: PMed Gramphos asking if he'll look at it. If he's willing, I'd need to send him the save, and I think sabre would need to send him the admin password as well.

          • war declared? i don't get it

instead of asking gramphos, shall we try to replay the round? many diplomatical issues can be solved. i've especially seen luxury trades to be a problem. sometimes just doing things slightly different can help.

can you tell me who's civ declared this war?

            • This happened once already, and happened again. At the end of my turn, the Vikings declare war on me. (Note I say Vikings. I start out the turn at peace with Aqualung, but the comp does it when I end the turn.) This ends any GPT or resource deals we have going (and I don't think it's a big surprise to you now if I tell you we do have at least one resource deal )

Having things disrupted like this every 20 turns just isn't going to work. We can't even get around it by using the so-called "F1 trick" (going in to the domestic advisor screen once the trade has been re-established and moving one slider up) because it takes more than one turn to do it: first the peace treaty must be renegotiated to keep Civ from sending us in to war (and resources cannot be attached to peace treaties) and only then can the trade be made again. So, we need to get this fixed, not just use war to reset things for another 20 turns.

              • oh my, that sounds really nasty. so you say this happens no matter what you do during your turn? , as you are the last player of each turn it likely has something to do with the inter-turn phase. the question is what and how to solve it...

the worst i have met so far is the game bombing in the F4-trade details screen (every time you enter that screen) and crashing when pillaging the luxury. the only solution was temporary war.

anyhow, i hope we (or more likely the great god gramphos) can find a fix!

                cheers

No automovers. It just pops up on the screen. I don't think Go-Toers can declare war automatically anyway. (But then, neither did I think treaty expirations could, but it seems the corrupted data has gotten it treating our peace like a regular treaty...)

I assume this wouldn't happen if I declared war on Aqualung, but that's what I'm trying to avoid in the first place.

BTW, I would like to take this opportunity to ask you all if you're aware of the go-to bug. (Units on Go-To move at the end of the last player's turn, giving them double-moves when they're first sent and thereafter giving each move one turn early. This could be used to beat someone to a spot, move double the space away from enemy units, etc.) One of my galleys has seen some of GameCube's units on auto-move recently. There weren't any of my units in that area of land, but I frankly regard auto-moving units outside your borders - or, heck, auto-moving military units in your borders - as not something that should be done, just in case someone is near your units and it messes up their plans to hinder/attack you.

You must have diplo stuff messed up too. What a tangled web Civ weaves...

Gramphos has fixed the PTWDG save before, and I think he fixed the PTWISDG once too, so hopefully he can help here if he has the necessary time available.

                  • on automoves: there has been times where i use it. in this game mainly with settler placement when i always forget where i intended to place the cities.

these automoves are definately a nasty exploit should they be misused in more tight situations - which i hope does and will not happen.

on the automoving galley: it could be an exploring galley... there you cannot do anything against automoves.

by your descriptions it really sounds like the peacetreaty deal is linked to the luxuries.

                    btw, i'm away for weekend!

                    • I can probably fix it. It's just that I've got many many things to do, so it might take a few days before I get to it. Anyway: Make sure I have thesamve once I've got time to deal with it.

That's the only time I use it too.....not to beat someone to a spot, but to avoid my terrible memory frustrating me again

                        • I have that problem too. Once I have a good enough map, I usually pull up paint, copy in a zoomed-out map of my area, and spray-paint on my plan for the rest of my settlements.

                              • IIRC, Netherlands and Scandinavia are trading a luxury to each other, that's all.
