Yes, though rather slowly I am afraid.
But suffice it to say that the early warfare in this game has spiced it up enough to almost not worry about the slow pace. We're up to 2950BC and there are about 3 wars going on to my knowledge. Unfortunately I'm in 2 of them and peace negotiations are becoming protracted and arduous....right Paddy?
