Nah ... I have 8 player games that move faster than this. Not many, but some. And 6 player games that go 1 tpd ... not counting 6p2ad games (well, those lower the average anyhow, so nevermind).
Admittedly though I've had few games that progressed decently that were >4 player ... maybe that's the key

I've noticed a significant downturn in playspeed of all my games, even ignoring the "Paddy factor" over the last 2 weeks.
Not sure why, but things seem to be slowing down. I've only got a handful of games that are still moving at above 0.5 turns per day

48 hours _should_ be possible even for 8 players, or at least within 72. anything slower, and some peoeple should think of finding a faster replacement
0.2 turns per day? ouch? probably even less when just looking at the last 3 turns or so

Yeh ... Problem is, as (#players) goes up, (%chance of slowdown) increases more than linearly. Each additional player brings a risk of some multiple-day time-out; and while in a 4 player game 1 player might miss a few days a month, net of maybe 7 days / month total for all 4, if 8 players miss the same days, you have 12-15 days missed - assuming some overlap - and less interest in playing the save exists as well, meaning less waking up at 6am and playing ...
