anyhow, the dutch did not really intervene into the war and only removed some mayan forces that were in the immediate vicinity of their border and had killed a unit and the underlying terrain in the process.

never feel safe when the possibility of well timed (pre)builds exists. switching from infantry to marines costed only 20 extra shields. everything else already existed.
few shields, yes. but taking 6 cities by going through just 3 units (of which only 2 where within the city) made life quite easy.
at least now the playing fields are equalled out a little bit more with the loyal vassals weakened as well after the byzantines losing an awesome production facility (iron works!).
maybe now we have a chance of catching up... i'm still please you guys are not yet in the modern ages :whew:
cheers

Well, the Byz have honorably concluded they must stick closely with their partners the Dutch. We tip our caps to them for this.
The Maya have looked the situation over and concluded that, if this were a chess game, it would be time to knock over the king There is no sense in pretending that we can last long in a 2vs1 situation.
However, it is a multi-player game and our stopping will influence others' chances. We will be happy to take suggestions as to the proper manner by which to concede.
OOC:
the whole game long the balance was clearly on your side. now it may be slightly more on our side. but hey... you've still got the biggest civ in nearly every aspect of the game (except maybe unit number), have a technological lead, most of the more important wonders. meanwhile we may sum up to a bit more in total, but andydog lost 3 of his best cities, including an iron works city (what was that... 100 shields per turn?) and i have run out of workable land tiles since centuries.
so don't sell yourself too low. you still have a good chance of winning. and even if not, you can still make our life a living hell
either way, the game could still be interesting

well, you had lots of rubber so far so probably lots of defence. and the arab island is not (yet) under control. au contraire...
but hey, don't grumble about your lands. you have the biggest area, a central capital, all strategic resorces (except a borrowed rubber) and plenty luxury resources and only 1 direct neighbor. andydog had to fight through rommel and push back alexman's invasion. i had no early stretegic resource except horses and only survived this long because you never really attacked me. and alex most certainly had the worst possible starting location!
so jungle or not... geographically the gods were benevolent to the mayan
anyhow... i'm in london from 5th to 9th of may, so no turns in the coming days from me. sorry 'bout that!
