The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.

Snoopy, I am last in the turn order to keep the barbs aggressive. As far as I know, it needs to be set by the last person in the turn order to work properly. Yes, I'm paranoid. Deal with it.
Standard victory conditions are not what happens mostly, but what is possible in general, you know. I don't really expect anyone to win by diplomacy, but hey - why not allow the possibility?
Finally, since this is a standard scenario, not a fixed one, you probably get a random starting location, chosen from the ones available. So yes, you migt be in a different spot this time.

Beta, don't worry. Look what I "found".
I'm not an idiot ... I know what standard victory conditions mean. I consider the Civ 2 victory conditions to be the standard ones; myself and many of the non-poly people I have played with never play with any condition set other than conquest/scientific. We consider diplo, culture, etc. to be "non-standard" victory conditions. Not because they never happen - domination happens quite often - but because we believe sci and conquest are the two proper ones. I also considered, before Poly, that AP was a "standard" setting, because it is what I like to play with. I'm aware that most people disagree, so I say ahead of time if i'm going to use it; but I consider it standard nonetheless, from my point of view.
I intend to mean that "standard" victory conditions are a subjective, not objective, definition, and you shouldn't expect everyone to agree with your definition thereof. If you expect things to be set in the way that you prefer, you need to either be the one setting them, or explicitly denote what you want, in detail. It's a lot easier to make sure one person has one setting right (you can find out very early in this game i'd think - and fix it without a restart) than to make sure the long list of beginning game settings are correct - hence the several restarts.
But it's your game.

I like your SNOOPY POSTER! - While you Wait quote.
Contrary to popular belief, standard settings are what the game comes with, not what most people use. For example, AP is definately not a standard setting, while Cultural Victory is. I didn't state it clearly when setting up the game, my bad.

Well I'm glad you're all so over the moon about the new start locations, cos mine is crappy - jungle on one entire side.
