A question: Are we playing with scientific leaders on or off?

I generally leave them on, but I don't usually pay specific attention to them. So probably on.

Regarding scientific leaders, I got my first yesterday (not in this game ) when I researched philosophy first and then I selected literature and got a leader and rushed great library. Then I was left with a ton of pre-built shields I squandered on the mausoleum. Perhaps I should have kept my scientific leader for later. Does it prevent the appearance of military leaders?

                          • No. SGLs and MGLs both can coexist, and you can have several of them. The scientific GA doesn't do a lot (20% or so more science i think, usually cuts down my research rates by 1 turn anyhow) especially if you're already in the lead. I recommend saving the SGL for a major wonder that's important to you and you get the tech late; but it really depends on your strategy in-game. I've saved SGLs for eras before, and i've used them the first turn I got them.

Definitely certain techs get SGLs more - the two you mention are two of the most likely from ancient area (Philosophy and Literature). In most SP games I play, if I get Phil first as a Scientific civ, i'll usually get a SGL.

You can have several SGLs but MGLs. If you have a SGL or a MGL, you cannot get a MGL. You can always get a SGL.

The SGA is broken. It dos nothing.

No tech is more likely to give a SGL than any other. If you are first to research any tech you have a 3% chance of gaining a SGL (5% for Scientific). Techs from huts don't count, techs from ToE/Phil do.

T, did you send two copies of the save? I'm pretty sure I deleted the first one after I downloaded, but when I came back from playing there was another that is marked as 'unread'. There's no chance the actual file will be different, is there?
