  • Expansionists Game

    *** GAME STARTED ***

    The basic idea of this game is fast expansion. I modified some settings to keep the players busy from the very beginning.

    Players:
    1. EliitMees - Hittites ( eliitmees AT merimax . ee )
    2. DanielXY - Russians ( DanielXY AT gmx . net )
    3. snoopy369 - Arabs ( snoopy369 AT yahoo . com )
    4. Wittlich - Portuguese ( wittlich AT sbcglobal . net )

    Special Settings:
    - 4 human players - no AI
    - Only expansionist civilizations are playable (Russia, America, Zululand, Mongols, Arabia, Hittites, Portugal). I excluded Inca from that list because they have Chasqui Scout as a special unit
    - Each player has 3 settlers, 3 workers, 2 scouts and 4 warriors at their starting location
    - Scout has 1 defence point
    - Curragh has 1 transport capacity
    - Each civilization has 4 free techs instead of 2
    - Starting Treasury increased to 50 gold

    Map Settings:
    - World Size: Small (80x80)
    - Land Mass: Pangaea
    - Water Coverage: 60% Water
    - Climate: Normal
    - Temperature: Temperate
    - Age: 5 Billion
    - Culturally Linked Start Locations

    Game Settings:
    - Difficulty: Monarch
    - Barbarian Activity: Raging
    - Accelerated Production
    - Allow Cultural Conversions
    - Preserve Random Seed
    - Allow Domination Victory
    - Allow Space Race Victory
    - Allow Diplomatic Victory
    - Allow Conquest Victory
    - Allow Cultural Victory

    Rules:
    - Combat reports via emails
    - No contact until in-game contact made
    - No out-of-game military alliance (ie military tactic discussion) without an in-game alliance
    - No discussion of specific map details or direction until Map-Making
    - No cheating
    - No sudden leaving

    As were already in a game and about to be in another Ill sit out of this one, but for even more rapid expansion why not give every civ a third trait ie the agricultural trait
    A proud member of the "Apolyton Story Writers Guild".There are many great stories at the Civ 3 stories forum, do yourself a favour and visit the forum. Lose yourself in one of many epic tales and be inspired to write yourself, as I was.

      I'll give it a shot. Arabia for me, please.

      I play either early in the day, ie 6-6:30am Central US time, or evening US time.

      I'd suggest making sure we agree on combat reports, out-of-game contact, etc.

      I suggest:
      1) Combat reports via emails
      2) OOG contact:
      a) No contact until in-game contact made
      b) No out-of-game military alliance (ie military tactic discussion) without an in-game alliance
      c) No discussion of specific map details or direction until Map-Making

      I also suggest either more land area, or larger map, or both. Expansionist civs on a 80% water small map won't have much room to expand.

        I agree. These rules are essential for PBEM games

        I also suggest either more land area, or larger map, or both. Expansionist civs on a 80% water small map won't have much room to expand.
        Alright, I will make it 60% water, but I think small size map is enough for 4 players

        What do you think about Accelerated Production? Should we leave it ON or put it OFF?

            I'm interested, however, the accelerated production doesn't appeal to me. Therefore, if you find more players who do want to play accelerated, I'll step out, no worries. On rules and etiquette, what about what's written in the "iron civ" thread by Rommel2D?
            I'll have a go with the Russians.
            I prefer playing my turns before and after work, but if I'm not too busy at work I play them throughout the day just as well.
            I'm in the Western European GMT+1 timezone.

                snoopy369 & Wittlich : what do you say - should we start the game now with McMeadows and AP OFF, or should we wait for another player who will play with AP ON?
                As for me - all my previous PBEM games were with AP, so I wouldn't mind to try this one without.

                        Sleeping/Working time is diffrent nearly every day. So I cant give u any usuall game time. But I can usually check my eMail at least every 8h around the clock. So that shouldnt be much of a problem
                        If its no fun why do it? Dance like noone is watching...
