  • Double Blind Turns

(Here's the discussion thread. It explains the froody experimental selection process that was used for this game.)

    Players:
Rommel2D jwala at fastmail dot fm (Arabia)
    OPEN (Dutch)
Mickeyj mickeyj AT dsl DOT pipex DOT com (Germany)
Beta brucehynes57 ATATAT rogers DOTDOT com (India)
    Kloreep (Iroquois)
Snoopy369 [who is at yahoo dot com] (Russia)

    Settings:
Standard Pagaea, 80% water (to give seafarers some 'real estate')
    Restless barbarians
    C/T/A: normal/temperate/4bill
Default rules, except no culturally linked starts
    Monarch level
    NoAIPatrol=0

Everyone has until the end of their second turn (3950BC) to call for a restart, except for anyone with an agricultural Civ. Once you call for a restart, you must play what you get from then on.
No communication about in-game content via private email, snail mail, telephone, or otherwise. The only out of game communication about game events should be in this thread, after all the tribes have met. Think of it as the global broadcast media.

Iron Civer Warrior Code is to be used, the diplomatic (1.2) options included.

I'm sure he was just reserving some posts at the top so he can edit in scoring updates, an AAR, and his favorite recipies...

Should we play with Iron Civer etiquette, including the 1-2 options? Ship chains allowed? I prefer private combat reports that cover most of the useful information...

Well considering the Webster definition of diplomacy:
2 : skill in handling affairs without arousing hostility : TACT
some of us might be lost causes regardless.

All [edit: out of game] diplomacy is to be conducted by broadcast. No Kremlin Hotlines or clandestine meetings...

That's one of the reasons I signed up for the PBEM. It's going to be very interesting conducting all diplomacy either out in the open, or through the diplo screen like AIs. (We are allowed to strike deals in secret through the diplo table so long as we don't rename cities to communicate, right?)

                            Well, yeah that too.

Hmm, that gives me an idea for another game, where all communication would be through the diplo screen... ;-)

                              I still say

Half the fun of playing humans is diplomacy.

Most of the diplomatic point is lost if everything has to be done in the open.

Why pray god do we have such a rule anyway?

                              Whats the point?
