Youth In Asia 2 - Play Order

    ricketyclik - India
    Longshot - Korea
    Beta - Russia
    GhengisFarb - China
    Rommel2D - Mongols
    Wittlich - Arabs
    Rhothaerill - Japan

    The Game

This is a silent PBEM. Which means, no out of game contact or discussion at all. Everything has to be done through the F4 diplo screen. There will be no chats, or out of game messages, or map trading outside of the game. Deal with each of the other players as if they were an AI. This of course will mean fewer alliances and co-ordinated attacks - or any tech trading in advance. It should raise the uncertainty level greatly - and play a bit like very challenging SP game - and less like a demo game.

This PBEM thread will only allow "sent to ABC". No smileys or comments or the like which could be a form of communication. And no code on the trade table either. Given the bright and creative bunch we are, I can envision we would soon have a barter language similar to contract bridge. (An opening of 7 gold means I want an alliance ... ) Let's play this straight up to see how it works.

Standard pangaea map - no island starts. Restless or raging barbs is the only question. I will get someone to check the start positions. He will only be checking that no one has an island start, and that no one has a start which is a complete loss.

Normal terrain and climate and age. All normal victory conditions in effect.

No customization of the civs other than putting in your name for the leader.

The Players (from the first round)

    Beta
    GhengisFarb
    Wittlich
    Hot_Enamel
    Longshot

    AND NEED TWO MORE PLAYERS.

    The Civilizations

Seven asian civs, hence the name. (amongst other things. ) None of the civs has an ancient age UU, which should make it interesting. And none are seafaring or agricultural. They are:

    Japan
    China
    Korea
    India
    Mongols
    Russians
    Arabs

A die roll will determine the civ choice order. I will take the last civ.

I'm interested. Just one thing- I'm very leery of third parties judging my starting postition for me. I prefer a restart option rule where players can call for a restart before the end of their first (or second) turn- but only once per game. If the island is big enough that I can't tell by the end of 3950, I won't complain about it...

Yes, I am interested in being one of the 2 new players.

My usual playing time is 09:00-12:00 GMT, although I won't be playing any turns this weekend, as I'm outa sight.

        Town I mean, outa town.

Re: Youth in Asia - Again

Alright, I seem to be slightly more interested in Civ than I was two days ago. I'm in for this one again. Let's get this one moving like the old one never did.

                  Thanks for the bump guys.

                  So it seems we have:

                  Beta
                  GhengisFarb
                  Wittlich
                  Longshot
                  Rommel2D
                  Rhothaerill
                  ricketyclik

                  Seven works for me.

Rommel - I understand your issue of someone else not reviewing the start - but the problem here is that you cannot tell in the first couple turns whether you have an island start or not. And having 6 civs on the continent and one on an island, in my mind, ain't good for the game.

If someone knows a way around this - without a 3rd part taking a view of the map - please let me know.

Otherwise - with Rhoth playing this game , I will ask Sir Ralph to do it.

Rommel, does that work for you?

                    Still interested.

                    Yes, I'm still interested.

/me thinks that should keep Beta off his back for a couple of days.

So Beta, when are you going to flip the coin/draw the lots/pick out of a hat/etc... the order in which the players choose their civ?

                            Reaching for the six-sided die.....
