Let's play 1 more round, just to see what we can get at with our second settler.

Kermit,
Looks like game 2 is the consensus, except that you didn't mention it. Is it okay for you?

Okay everybody. Let's try this. Don't rank the games by better, best, worst. Rank them like this:
Bad = 0
Okay = 1
Good = 2
'Best Start Ever" = 4
Be sure to rank all three games. We'll see how they stack up. If the one with the highest score turns out to be a terrible start for one person, we should consider trying again. We could change the settings to temperate and 5 billion years, to remove some of the mountains and jungle/marsh.
My rankings are
Game1: 0 points
Game2: 1 point
Game3: 2 points

I'm sick of playing 4000BC. I'm sick of waiting for the magic start that will win the game for you. Perhaps a random map is not the answer. If you restart, leave me out.

I'm not trying to create a "magic start" that will win the game for me. Considering that this game will take over a year to complete if we play all the way through, I would think that nobody wants a bad start. PBEM games take patience. I don't intend on restarting at the moment. It's just a last resort. But don't worry. If we restart. We will leave you out.
