The Chinese warriors, spearman, archers look out over the walls of Beijing and Shanghai and their eyes sweep over a huge army of Persian soldiers and horses. They will fight to the last man to defend their homeland from the evil Persians. They do not know why the Persians have invaded their lands and no longer care. They know they will die, but they will die taking as many Persian soldiers to their deaths as possible.

Well the Chinese people don't appear too upset to us. Canton is flourishing - everyone is happy to go about their business. We anticipate celebrations for the Persian leader in approximately 3 turns.
And now back to the blood and guts:

We are disappointed that the English have decided to stick their nose into matters on the West Island by accepting control of Hangchow. We will of course sack the magistrate of this town if necessary, however as we have previously stated, we have no quarrel with the Poms.
If the English magistrate hands over Hangchow to Persia, then we will consider the matter closed. If not, then we will take Hangchow anyway and offer Ghandi the secrets of Feudalism if he decides to teach the meddling English a lesson!

I don't know what "fool of a took" means, but I think I agree.
These Persians are a bloodthirsty lot. I can only hope the rest of the world is taking notice how they are ruthlessly destroying the Chinese civ - unprovoked and without regard for any interests, save their own.
I will live long enough to see their demise.

yup i'd be branded a traitor if i didn't know where 'fool of a took' came from!
Cripes, listen to all this whinging! Chaps, I'll say it again. You had a tech alliance. China are militaristic. I'm told that Riders are quite deadly. I'd've been stupid NOT to declare war when I did. It's nothing personal, just the way the cookie has crumbled in this particular game.
Immortal Army kills archer and captures Shanghai.
Undefended Hangchow, under English control, captured.
My last ditch effort for peace with England is making it's way over. My offer is a good one Sir Paddy. I hope you will see reason and take it as it is there ONE TIME ONLY.
The West Island will be controlled only by Persia. We note that the people of Shanghai were rioting before we assumed control of their city. The people of China cry out for Persian culture and we have answered their call. End of Story.

Hmmm.... the chinese people are happy with Persian culture? I guess I would agree that I wanted Persia to rule me if there was an immortal's sword poking me in the back.
2 Catapults fire at Stack of Doom from Persian. One Pikeman loses one hit point.
BTW, all manner of Chinese refuges are piling into whatever seaworthy crafts can be located for a desperate trek to India and England. One galley has already sunk with units aboard desperately trying to reach India. According to one eye witness -- "...it was if a tsunami was flowing towards India because the water was thick with Chinese watercraft..."
I'm pretty sure they would rather have the ruthless monarch they know... heh heh.
