I'm looking to go way whacky with a PBEM here. 5-6 players, Everyone picks 5 tribes to add to the pool of available tribes. Everyone then ranks all tribes in the pool not nominated by themselves in order of preference. First unique request for each tribe gets that tribe, last choice ties are randomly distributed among tied players.

Basically, you'd be trying to nominate the worst tribes to give your opponents, then pick the best one from what everyone else has elected to the pool.

In the game, no private communication allowed at any time. Once all players have met, game discussion is open in the thread, but that is the only communication allowed.

Standard Pangea, 80% water. Iron Civer exploit/etiquette code, except where special communication rules apply. Everything else TBD.

Any body else for a mid-summer[winter] mad adventure?

Important: don't post any Civ choices before everyone else is ready to go

The game is now full with:
    Kloreep
    Mickeyj
    Beta
and a bunch of guys with nonsense numbers at the end of their names

    Settings:
Standard Pagea, 80% water (to give seafarers some 'real estate')
    Restless barbarians
    C/T/A: normal/temperate/4bill
Default rules, except no culturally linked starts
    Monarch level

    Selection Pool:
    Aztecs
    Arabs
    Byzantines
    Dutch
    English
    Germany
    Hittites
    India
    Iroquois
    Koreans
    Mongols
    Portugal
    Russia
    Spain
    Zulu

Rank all the Tribes in the pool, not including any of your own nominations, from one on up, starting with the most preferred.

The first unique request for a tribe gets it. For example, if two players pick England #1 , and another picks them #2, the player that ranked them second would be 'awarded' the Brits.

This one is more important to keep secret. I'll send my picks to Kloreep (the first respondant in this thread) before asking for anyone else's. Please make up your lists, but don't PM them until I've sent mine (sometime tonight...).

I'll start the game on a randomly generated, unmodded Pangea as discussed elsewhere. Everyone has until the end of their first turn (4000BC) to call for a restart, except for anyone with an agricultural Civ. Once you call for a restart, you must play what you get from then on.

The selection process makes my head spin. I think I understand it. Can you pick some of the same civs as someone else?

Having all communication be public sounds like a very interesting idea.

Yeah, this would all be 'secret balloting'. Everyone should have a list made up before anyone posts theirs. If everyone nominates many of the same tribes, there might only be 6 or 7 in the pool.

Ever since the Balderdash game crashed to a halt, this forum has been that much dimmer. I'm hoping this can ressurrect that spirit... (although there is no requirement to post BS)

Rommel this sounds good i'll be up for it.

What sort of turn rate are you after - Ironciver type turn-rate?

But since you aren't going to get the civs you pick, I imagine there will be duplicates despite this.

The tribes you nominate for the pool should be the ones you consider the worst ones, since these are what your opponents will have to chose from. I'm anticipating that there will be many duplicates. 5 players would make 25 nominations, but I'm guessing there will be only around 10 distinct ones that will make up the pool.

If there are less than 9 distinct ones, that could cause a problem since you can't vote for the 5 you nominate. We could make the selection rules more complex to anticipate problems like this, but I think chances are good that it won't come up.

Welcome Mickey- I'd like to see a 24 hour turn limit, but it depends on who all is interested...

Hmm, I thought a gimmick like this would draw in at least a few more comments. I wonder, is my description not clear enough, or does it sound unworkable...?

(Unless it's just the dog days of summer...)

Man - that is one good looking dog. Maybe I should switch back for August.

btw Rommel - the original Misfits game was based on a similar theme. There were six players - and you picked the civ for the next player. The last player picked for the first. It was back in the ptw days - and we got Korea, Russia, India, Mongols, England, and Spain. Will be interesting to see what comes up here.

Guess we need one more. How about ric or lmtoops or snoopy? They are pretty regular players.

                              I have pm'd or e-mailed all 3. I'm sure we will have a game.

And I know we are not suppose to post our civ choices yet - but I just can't wait. I choose - Luxembourg. (that skiing and banking trait combo is a real killer.)
