  • Game Full

I'm currently in two dissapointing games. My first PBEMs ever. I would like something fast moving, so I can get to the later parts of a game and see what it is like to face off with humans.

Four players seems like the minimum for a good game and should be faster than a larger game.

A small map will speed things up, but we could even use tiny or standard if you'd prefer.

I've never used accelerated production and am not sure how it changes the game, but it does speed things along so I am considering it.

Lastly we can start with extra units.

i see lots of interesting games here besides just a regular epic game. We can control more than one each, we can have teams or we can play one of the scenarios.

I see where you are headed.

A thought occurred to me. If we can get edit in 3 settlers and 4 workers per civ at the start, it would greatly speed up the early game .

Another idea would be to get a volunteer to set up a start of four cities each or simply to play through 50 turns for all four civs, without exploration, and then pass the game along to the players.

More initial units is probably a better idea than accelerated production. I don't want someone else setting up my cities though.

How about starting with two extra techs each or maybe 8 points of advances?

I don't think it's the tech that makes the early turns a long, slow slog. It's the lack of things to do and the wait between turns.

Jshelr, very good point. Lets just stick with extra start units then.

Burly, this was going to be a 4 player game. The other guys are supposed to be showing up soon. Hang around though, because I won't be waiting for them.

                    How about this?

Let me know what you think of these settings then.

                    3 settlers and workers
                    tiny map
Achepelago, otherwise it may be over too fast
                    roaming barbarians
                    emperor
                    no AI

                    v1.22 C3C

let me know your civ choices also, one each.

Burly, welcome aboard. We got our four. This game is full.

Iron Civer rules and etiquette will be recomended reading unless we can agree on some changes.

I'll be out the rest of the day, but maybe we can start Sat or Sun. That would be a good omen.

                        Thanks for the invite 1889.

I'll try the Byzantine's, if no one's claimed them yet.

The settings are fine with me.

I'm at GMT-5 (Cincinnati, Ohio, USA) in case you need that info for turn order.
I also tend to play late at night (between 10pm and midnight EST) but can also play at lunchtime (usually).

I'd warn you that Tiny-Archipelago is somewhat risky, in terms of initial start. If you want, I can map-check for you ... email me (jshelr has my email). Just tell me what you want to see as a minimum for starting locs (min 2 cities on island, must have X coastal-connected islands, etc.)

Just my 2 cents, but if we have 3 settlers to start, an island large enough to accommodate 3 cities would be nice. Otherwise you'll probably need to join a settler to a city until map-making.

I'm not in the tournament, so if anyone else knows of a better location, let me know. I read the rules and the exploit/ettiquite list from this thread and it appears to cover everything I've heard about so far.
