  • come now, it's not like i disclosed valuable secrets. much like how the AI can manage to spread the information about a player civ's reputation, just through contacts, my post was along those lines i believe

it's all for fun, and it sure is nicer than a turn sent post x 100

    • I think you can post something here as long as you could have e-mailed the same information to each player individually.

Does information about declaration of war require an embassy? I couldn't see anything like that in the etiquette. You need an ambassy to coordinate research, and you need an alliance to coordinate military operations, but I think it's fine to tell civ A that you have been attacked by civ B, as long as you are certain that A and B have met in the game.

        • As an aside, I checked my foreign advisor's screen and it shows that the English and Egyptians are at war so it's not "new" information.

This is what I had in mind with the etiquette/exploits. The optional embassy rules are meant to hinder tech alliances and slow the pace of discovery some. General discussion/rumors of conflict are for anyone willing to listen. Of course there's no guarantee any of the information is accurate or truthful...

The gray area I've discovered is a matter of what level of cooperation constitutes an alliance which must be declared on the diplo screen. When propositioned for an alliance in one of my games, the agreement hinged on commiting troops to a future conflict. We ended up deciding we could agree to commit troops, but not with any specifics such as number, type, or location of, without a formal alliance declaration. Of course, precise location description depends on tech level also.

Is this clear and sensible? Would it perhaps be simpler and better to forbid any email/forum discussion of third party tribes until an alliance against them is accepted in the diplo screen?

                      • Trip's out?

I guess I'd have ranked England as the worst tribe for these settings- tough luck, eh?

                        • Bad start, bad civ, bad land, bad luck. With no chance to win I decided it was a waste of time to continue.

                              • C'mon Trip, you're the professional diplogamer- you couldn't compensate for a bad start by manipulating the other players in diplomacy?

Could someone list the scores from the latest turn so I can use them in an update? Thanx.
