              • anyone around?

well, my schedule is getting more and more full. i've got several PBEMs running and my master thesis doesn't write get written by itself.

FP, you're just too far ahead in points. and as you stated correctly, the unit support costs are killing me. i may be able to capture a city or two (my military is considered "strong") and the AI civ is not a problem for me at all, but calculating from your points you must be ahead by several cities and have a good infrastructure and a healthy research pace.

so as a consequence, i'll officially resign from this game (not that i'd had a chance anyway ).

i'll load up the game in SP later (we played it in 1.15) and analyze, if i should have done it different... but even just for the sake of the honour of apolyton multiplaying forum, let's at least get the 4th tournament finished!

                • but i do want to see an official final round between FP and snotty, the winners of the 2 finished tournaments so far.

i'd recommend a best of 3 (2 wins needed) to have a more likely equal start or a third player setting up a fair map and resigning after the first turn...

                  anyway, congratulations fried!

Saber- the battle for my first city would be the interesting one, it's true. However, one thing that I imagine you might not realize that I've pulled as a "trump" on you - your military is "strong" to mine, but how much of it is at the scene of the battle? Minus 3 sentinels, every single unit I have is waiting in defend or counterstrike positions around that area. Everything else is empty! I'd guess we're closer to even on the front line, and you are correct that my infrastructure is very sound - I think technological differences would start to show up fairly quickly in the form of knights and such. Throw in the much quicker reinforcement times to my side of the front....

I'd love to play it out and find out who's right sometime though.

                      • ok, i checked it out in SP now and i managed to get the first city with my swordsmen and ACs. you probably would have thrown in more units so it would have been a close fight. but otoh, it wouldn't even have been so bad if i had lost some units, as it would free my economy from the heavy weight of the unit support.

i also saw that you had approx. 12 cities and your research was at the time slightly ahead of mine (but mine was hardly moving).

sooner or later (as you said... knights were nigh) you would have got me, but either way, i'm happy i survived that long against you.
