Mine has got to be the Battleship firing! I think it looks (and sounds) so cool. The way the guns turn to the side and the ship rocks back and boom boom boom! Especially when it is fighting other ships, lots of firing going on. Sometimes I have to turn my volume down when that darn thing is firing! I was once playing a game and my girlfriend was sitting near watching TV. I was in a large war during the time. Anyway she heard the ships open firing then she said, man you are really going at it over there huh? Whats going on? I laughed and told her alot of fighting, and its getting ugly. I am wondering who worked on the animations and sound effects in CIV3? Anyway whomever it was they certainly done a fantastic job

I love watching my jet fighters intercept AI bombers and shoot 'em down!
Second to that and one I seldom see is the nuclear bomb. Very realistic, very scary. And when I have dropped them, all hell breaks loose. But the jet fighters are best for me.
Good question, by the way.Jack

Paratroopers. The first time I saw them float down I thought it was great. I've only used them in one game, but I keep making them in hopes of a chance to use them again.
Frigates, like Battleships, have a good look and sound.
I also like the way Numidian Mercenaries whip their spears around onto their shoulders when fortifying.
I like the little touches.

My personal favorite is (now) the Guerilla w/ his shoot/stab routine. Occationally a Guerilla (or more correctly a stack o' guerillas) will take out a Modern Armor or some advanced unit. It looks cool to watch him bayonet to death a tank-like unit.
It almost psychologically devistated me the first time a Jaguar Warrior started pounding on one of my spearmen. The Jags have it in the 'sound' department for the multiple hit effect.
For the 'Pomp and Circumstance' Category, the Great Leader carries the day. It doesn't matter if he's fortifying, just standing around, or dying, he looks 'dignified'."...Every Right implies a certain Responsibility; Every Opportunity, an Obligation; Every Possession, a Duty." --J.D. Well, most animations described here are my favorites as well, but there are others. Nothing like the ancient times!
I just love when a swordsman or, even better, a Legion gets promoted! The Swordsman makes the "M-YEAH!!!" and stacks his swords into the ground, and the legion makes a "Yeeehh!" and you hear it beatin' its sword with the shield, hehe. Looks like Braveheart, heheheh...
The warrior is pretty fun too. "WWAAAAAHHHH!!!"
Of course, there's also the longbowman, with its sarcastic "look-how-I-shot-those-pathetic-knights-in-the-head-over-there" laughing: "HOHOHO HO!". Hey, they laugh like Santa!
I like the Knight animation, but I think it would be a little more nice if it carried a lance instead of a sword, it when in battle he would try to perfurate its enemy with it (I know lances had commonly round extremities, but it would be for dramatic purposes). And when going around, it would be more menacing.

The riflemen victory animation is great.
And pedrojedi, I think a better word for that is "impale."Lime roots and treachery!

Jaguar Warrior and Guerilla definitely.
I like the laughing-from-victory sounds of the ancient units and also the sounds of the Modern Armor moving its turret moving around.
The Berserk also looks fearsome with that axe.A true ally stabs you in the front.
