  • Civ 1 speed

Okay, I miss Civ 1. so many good memories. And I can't reinstall my old one because it came on those giant disks they still used in '92. I got Civ 1 (again) from an abandonware site. Here's the thing: it runs really slowly. Come on, I'm on an Athlon. Why is it running so poorly? Is it a conflict with Win2k?
Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. And perhaps everyone else, too.

I'm surprised it runs on Win2k at all.

Try install the Windows-version of Civ-1 instead. Avoid the DOS-version.

The HECK you say! I play civ for windows normally because it is easier, but civ editor and civ map editor don't work with the windows version!
Yes, there's a reason I keep the dos one around...

I was just about to point out that Horsie is simply making excuses in advance for why he will suck at Civ III...
