    hi ,

indeed that is an other thing we are missing , ... "locks" , ... click with the mouse on a group of ships and let them ALL go to one spot , ... or ask for example a sub to "tail" an other unit , ....

    Firaxis , .....

we need special units we can name , ... special battleships , etc , ....

panag, is your last post relevant at all to the topic?

Mad Bomber: I thought about using the old conventions, and soon realized that there was a key element for BB names missing, states! So, I just decided to work in names that I wouldn't have to change with every new ship type.

My only problem with naming ships is that I can't play as another country, IJN Theodore Roosevelt would look a bit off...

Being American, its easier for me to come up with names for stuff when I play the USA, but when im not, I just improvise.

When im the Iroquois, for instance, my BBs might be Wolf, Fox, Bear, etc. Or I may use descriptive names like the RN has used for years...Courageous, Invincible, and so on.

If I have a lot of units doing different things, naming them sometimes helps me keep track.

          hi ,

you should have asked that to the person who posted the message that got an answer , .....

posting "is this relevant or not" is not relevant to the subject , .....

why did you not asked anyone else if the post they made is relevant or not , .....

That would look a little funny, However you could use this system with other Civ's also, it would only take a little research on the civ you are playing and make the game even more fun.

of course there are a few civ's that you would not be able to use this like the Iroqouis or Zulu.

Regiments are larger than battalions, in those countries that use both unit designations. Hence, omitting most ancillary units:

              Section/Squad (9-12 soldiers)
              3+ sections/squads per platoon
              3+ platoons per company
              3+ companies per battalion
              2+ battalions per regiment
3+ battalions per brigade, or 2+ regiments per brigade
3+ brigades + ancillary brigades (artillery, aviation, etc.) and battalions per division
              2+ divisions per corps
              2+ corps per army
              2+ armies per army group

              9 companies to a regiment

3 Battalions to a brigade (each brigade also has an attached HQ company)

I don't name units, except for elite units who have given me a leader.
I watched you fall. I think I pushed.

Simple solution: just name them after your civ's cities!

I tried to name naval units. I got tired, eventually. It`s just useless and confusing for me, specially when something like "hey, did Invincible die?" happen.

I stick to just naming my leader-generators.

However, since I tend to generate a fair number of leaders, I have a few names I use consistently:

If I get a leader from a warrior, the warrior is "Grog"

The 1st mounted unit that generates a leader =
"The Nine" (as in the Nazgul)

A legionary elite* = "Praetorian Guards" If I get another from a legionary, he's "The Twentieth"

Swordsman elite* = "Royal Guards" or just "Guards"

A Samurai elite* = "Ronin" (not really the proper use of that term, but hey).

A Rider elite* = "Celestial Raiders"

Once I have a few, I will resort to "Destroyers of Detroit" or "Roman Raiders" or "Mashers of Medina"

Cavalry units are often "1st Cavaliers" etc.

                          -Arrian
grog want tank...Grog Want Tank... GROG WANT TANK!

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

                            hi ,

okay , but what about support elements , ...

a typical brigade or even regiment has support elements like , signals , art , maybe NBC , AA , med , engineers , etc , ..... quickly adding a batt or two , .....

You are correct, a regiment is smaller than a regiment, but I only had them transposed, there are typically three battalions per regiment.

Engineers, sappers, construction troops, ect. are auxillary troops they are usually assigned in company or battalion strength to a particular regiment or brigade, they could also be attached to a HQ company.
