Actually all I would need is a screenshot of the seas surrounding Iceland, I am looking to see if there is a sea pathway, no need to actually get the galley in action.

Stop making excuses for this cheating AI.
It's ...interesting... that you who claim to know so much about AI cheats cannot come up with one single proof (save game) of this "cheat".

As has been explained in numerous threads, the following is true for galleys:

          1) AI will never end a turn where a galley risk sinking.
          2) Magnetism and Navigation applies to galleys, so if a civ have those techs, galleys may safely traverse sea/ocean sqaures.
          3) If a galley is forced to teleport (due to a "leave or declare war" demand), it will teleport to the closest shore sqaure that is uncontrolled or friendly controlled. This may teleport the gally across ocean to an otherwise undiscovered island.

Since 2 and 3 applies identically to AI and human playes (Players have even posted screenshot of 3 happening to them), there's no cheat involved here.

So Coracle, either explain what's wrong with what I write (and please back it up by a save game) or shut up. Just because you don't understand how the game works don't mean it's a cheat.

I am playing a game on the scenerio Europe.bix. I believe this is the same scenerio that you are playing. In this scenerio there are sea pathways from Norway, and from the Shetlands which would allow you to reach Iceland without seeing an ocean tile.

              mad bomber,
where did you see the sea passage to iceland? it's all ocean - 13 tiles from the shetland islands to iceland!
and norway is another 8 ocean tiles away from the british isles (except if you take the sea-detour past denmark, germany and belgium)

i've attached an enlarged screenshot of the minimap of europe.bix. no sign of a sea passage at all. are you sure you didn't mean iReland?

thats my map (with the exception of starting locations) if the map is huge. and as i've stated, i followed the galley from ireland to iceland.

by the way, considering most of the terrrain is equal, the Russians have a horrible advantage.

yeah... and i didn't understand, how the starting locations were chosen.
on the british isles there's england, ireland, wales and scotland. sicily also has a starting location, but no ukraina, white russia, poland, portugal, algeria, baltic states, etc. where there would be plenty of space.

it seemed to only have located civs only based on capitals. that won't work, obviously, since there are no Dutch/Belgian/etc. civs. I'd like to have more than one of each civ, such as two germanies. There are 4 starting places, but all of those locations are cities for Scandinavia, so that... makes no sense. Whoever starts in Belgium is almost boxed in immediately. Spain is pretty isolated, and it would be almost impossible to lose as Russia before the Industrial age, at least.

I hate it when I'm wrong.... I mistook a small Island north of Britain for Iceland. Didn't realize how big Iceland is. My Geography is usually better than this.

As for my game, I used the starting positions included with the scenerio with 8 civs. I started in Denmark, and everyone else started in Central Europe, England, UK, or Scandanavia. There is still land to claim, its 500AD, and I am nearly in the Industrial era. I will have to mod this scenerio before playing it again

No problem, i know how you feel. When Iceland is considered part of Europe, it seems weird when it's... basically in North America.

geographically it's north america, you're right.
however culturally it's clearly a european civilisation (scandinavian to be more precice).
also check what on the west side of iceland: nearly uninhabited land. greenland, tundra covered canadian islands and sea.... lots of sea...
i'm guessing here, but i presume edinborough-rejkjavik is nearer than rejkjavik to the nearest bigger north american city?!?

umm... Reykjavik is in the west. culturally, though, obviously Scandinavian, like Greenland.

both are part of the Nordic Council.
