I am at a loss as to how they could think this was worse than MM9.
Lucky for me I got what I expected from PTW and I am pleased. I have a drawer full of games that I did not play or stop soon after, so I will not reqret this purchase.

For $30, I'm disappointed myself. It really is just an added multi-player feature, and little touch-ups that aren't much different from new versions being released online for free.

Truely... I thing gamespot hit a mark. I think after promising mutliplayer with CivIII itself and then making us pay $30 for it is a dishonarable, backstabbing, and complete cheat of a move. Basically what you're paying for is the multiplayer option... anything else... I reapat ANYTHING ELSE in the game could have been added with a patch, which firaxis promised but never delivered.

I would like to take the time to point out how HORRIBLE the PRIMA strategy guide is. For starters, it was $20, but Best Buy cashiers are morons so I paid $10. Anyways, the table of contents doesn't even list page numbers. It has false information. And there is NO strategy, WHATSOEVER. It is basically a second copy of the manual. Don't buy that worthless piece of sh*t.

That is what many guides are nowadays. No strategy at all or it is so generic as to be useless.

Prima is normally pretty good, but expensive... this will probably be my last guide from them...or any guide for that matter. I used to like to read them during loading, but I guess online ones are free and now outway the $20 or whatever they may be.

Prima's Civ3 Strat Gde gave a decent PREVIEW of the game, before it was available, but of course several things changed once the game came out.

OTOH, their PTW Strat Gde was EXTREMELY dissapointing. It has several things in it that was pure speculation from the author's standpoint, totally contrary to Firaxian statements here, in addition to idiocys that were ... (well, e.g., that you pay maintenance for captured workers)!!

I was under the impression that they didn't promise MP in Civ3. I thought they stated they would have liked to include it in the game, but they didn't have time to iron out all the details by release date.

I can understand people's disenchantment with some of the MP bugs, but not with the "promise" of MP.

All I have to say is that I'm soooooo glad I didn't waste my hard earned cash on this crap............

The fact that the game was patched immediately upon it's release date should tell you something.

But I guess Firaxis/Infogreed figured that they'd get the paying public to be their beta brigade. Phoooeeooeoeoeoeooyyyyyyy

I bought PTW two weeks ago and I have yet to play and on-line game. I've tried twice but the game always crashed even after I installed the patch. I have a P4 and a cable modem so I know it's not my hardware.
