  • An army to be proud of

I just had a great idea. Lets include a military parade movie.

Just imagine you (Stalin, dont you just love the man) standing there and seeing T34 an infantry marching over the red square. The crowd cheering at the victory over Nazi-Germany and the evil capitalist America. Planes flying over and the flag everywhere.

Ofcourse you can have a military parade before or during a war. My idea is that there should be a button in the capital. When you press it you get a military parade. They should cost some money and make 2 heads i every city happy for the next five turns.

Maybe instead of making people happy in general they should reduce any war discontent that might result from the upcoming war, for a number of turns
The rivers shall run to the sea,
While shadows shall move across the valleys of mountains,
While the heavens shall nourish the stars,
Always shall your honor and your name and your fame endure.

Or make two people content in every city.
No Fighting here, this is the war room!

That's a great idea! It should have diminishing effectiveness, though. If the war is going badly, and has been for some time, a military parade may only snuff out whatever public sympathy you had left!

I don't know. I think it would make for a cool movie, but I don't think it should be a function in the game. It's going a wee bit over board.
Dom Pedro II - 2nd and last Emperor of the Empire of Brazil (1831 - 1889).

I truly believe that America is the world's second chance. I only hope we get a third...

I have to agree with Dom Pedro II. The movie would be cool but a game concept? Instead maybe after a long war your people celebrate victory with a video and a couple "We Love tniem Day!(s)"

I've always hated to see killing machines marching.

It doesn't sound right, and even if something of that sort's in the game I'll turn it off right away.

i kind of agree with bagdar,it would make a cool cut sceen, but maybe this parade can only be done with a certain kind of government, like communisim or fundamentalisim, because in a democracy, many people might become unhappy with this, because of it's warlike nature, like badgar.

Kochman, fine with me. I played with a communist goverment most of the time in Civ2. And then once i had researched everything i swichted to fundamentalism and kicked some ass(preferbly American)

                        Not everyone loves a parade.

As a resident of sunny Oregon, wouldn't it be a shame if it rained on this parade.

                            What???

Think about every war that the U.S. has won. Parades. After WWII everyone in Europe other than Germany had parades. In the U.S. following the Gulf War, parades.

Democracies love to win wars! We love parades! Time Square. How can you say that in a democracy people will be unhappy with a parade, if anything it will get people more excited.

Time to put aside the silly notion that Democracy = peaceful, non-aggressive, non-warlike countries.

now that i think about it, your right, but maybe with a democracy, it's the citizens, not the government, that arrange a victory parade. when u win a war, u would see a screen saying "your citizens in ___ celebrate your recent victory, and the return of our soldiers" or something, and than the video.
