And most important - it is a great leveller in terms of holding back a civ from growing too large - and that means you and me, the human players.
The human players place their FP in strategic locations allowing them to overcome distance corruption/waste FAR better than the AI who will place it's FP right next to it's palace. Not to mention, us human players know how to rush build anti-corruption sites & relocate our palace to even more optimal positions - unlike the AI who will keep it's palace on the south pole or whatever horrid starting position it may be in.

If it weren't for corruption, the other civs would just keep on expanding and creating new cities
That already happens, with corruption. People have used the editor to reduce/lower corruption (sometimes considerably) & the sky didn't fall.

It therefore seems that the elimination of corruption would necessitate a lot of other changes , with consequent game balancing issues to be resolved, so that deity could remain playable.
Deity is very playable even without a FP. Have you heard of the OCC?

Certainly it happens but corruption will certainly slow them down, just like it slows me down.

True, but there are lots of things that can slow them down.

Yes, and I've done them all in my mod.

The "wheeled" flag on Settlers works rather well.

sorry, I was being sarcastic. As far as knowing anybody, umm... hey, do YOU know anything about rendering things in a 3D program, brian?
