Well, the Disease Stat might be right sometimes, but the LiteracyStat is nonsense.

Military service is 10*(total population points)/(total military units), in years.
Family size is (total excess food)/(2*#of cities), minimum of 1.
Edit: It's possible, BTW, to have a military service figure larger than the Life Expectancy figure, actually (try a Mass Regicide game).
Um, shouldn't that be 10*military units/ total pop? The more pop per military unit, the smaller the service. The more military units the higher the service.
I've always known the Family size formula was broken, thank you Vlad for showing why. Anyone who knows anything about demographics knows that it takes 2 children just to maintain ZPG. Therefore, a +2 factor should be added, and should be broken down into tenths.
If you're going to have demographics in the game, get 'em right!

is being married really necessary? Actually a ratio of one man to 100 women would be better for reproduction rate.

btw the literacy stat is not bad, if I am 2nd or 3rd, I know I must start some wars, because the scientific civs are beginning to pull away."Where I come from, we don't fraternize with the enemy - how about yourself?"

"hmm... technically.. if the man had intercourse everynight with a different woman and each night he made that woman pregnant... he'd need a lot more women... would be more than10-12 months before he'd get back to the first one..."
Actually, no. To be correct, it says "FAMILY size".
"He'd need about 350 women. I'd be satisfied with 100, though. "
100 wisconsin women=350 normal womenI use Posturepedic mattresses for a lifetime of temporary relief.
