in that i detest being behind on research, even if not going for spaceship victory, i find it unconcionable to set tech slider at 0 and buy all my techs. something not quite kosher about that. better to constabtly moniter tech/luxury slider as mentioned, as stated, AND.......build up your tech improvements til youu are selling tech, preferably at per turn rates, and never have to go much above 30-40% tech rate on the slider. i just love ganking musketmen with tanks!

It is beyond my skill set to not be behind in research above Monarch level for a very long time. Yes at Regent and below, you can catch up fast and go it alone.
