How are defensive units picked

    cavalry - riflemen
    tanks - infantry

    You can see where the problem is: the dragoons are missing. The "cavalry" at waterloo would actually be "dragoons." They used speed and steel to overcome the slow-firing muskets.

      were dragoons strictly sabre guys or did they have firearms?

        Hard to say I think. Sabres mostly, but some handguns ?
        We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

          If you add dragoons, I think musketmen have to be beefed up... to a 5 defense. Dragoons can have the 6 attack. Riflemen should have an 8 defense. Cavalry can have an 8 attack. Infantry go up to 14 defense... and on and on.

          There are a number of changes that could/should be made in the a/d/m values, but overall I think the game works pretty well.
