Well, these requests about complete different maps are quite old hats: many of us already asked them when game was in early development.
The reply was that a Civ II map was more than adequate for the Civ II + ... sorry they actually call it Civ III

Surely a complete rework on the map system would cost too much in programming effort, so you can forget it as included into a patch or a game add on/expansion.

Yeah, I know. I wasn't really suggesting anything for CivIII, just what I want to see in a global stragegy game. Maybe CivIV.

Hopefully we won't have to wait for Civ IV, there are enough sound, easily-implementable ideas here that could be taken up. The next patch with be just that a "patch", but some of this could be implemented in the XP (and one hopes, some of it will).

The reason I think it could be in the XP is the same as why there is not a good scenario editor -- yet. The reason, IMHO, there is not "fully-functional" scenarios editor is because the glitches are still being worked out of the source code. People playing scenarios would only compound the chance of creating errors (hey -- wasn't there a Firaxian quote on that ). They want to know what are the errors in the game before letting us create our own crashes.

So let it be written, so let it be done: Increase the map capabilites in XP.
