  • Oh yes, they WILL be mine.....

Hi. I'm a Wonder whore. It's been five minutes since I built my last Wonder.

I can't explain it, but I have this DEEP, BURNING NEED to build the Wonders. All of them. Even the ones that don't mean anything. Like the Lighthouse on a huge pangea. Or the Library, right before I score education.

And God help any civ that builds one of MY Wonders. That civ will be IMMEDIATELY and FEROCIOUSLY exterminated! Even if they're twice as big as me!

Will I be ok? Should I seek help?

      Do you even build "Longevity"?

If so...you do have a problem...and that is truly, truly sad.
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."

I do, but I also have it tweeked so that citizens only consume 1 food. So the worst that can happen is that a city starves itself down by 1 pop. Even that has a 50/50 shot of occuring.

I did that in civ2, but I gave up on such silly things in civ3.

I was talking about the subject at hand in case it isn't obvious.

Or is it because I named the infamous civ2? I only used it in context with how I play civ3. get it?

What is your problem?? dissident is a fine guy who makes good contributions here, he was simply saying that he does not pursue pointless aims such as building the GL after Education, which is a fair enough Comment.

I guess the term for this is "wonderlust".

I just realized it's his "thing"

                      no big deal

actually I would go after obsolete wonders if I had a chance to get them . But the constraints of this game are too much. I could take them all over, but that can be a pain. So I don't bother.

I believe that MOHonor has made his own contributions, especially back in the bad old days of the flame fests and whine-a-thons (not so long ago).

*What I believe*. Look it up. One of the best threads I have seen on this board. Of course you have to consider the context of all the other threads going off (literally, as in BOOM) around it.

                          "Wonderlust"

Great term, that. And it applies to me. Not quite to the extent of building the Great Lighthouse on a pangea, but I too really, really, really, want to build Wonders. At least the ones I consider important. These are:

                          Great Library
                          Sistine
                          Sun Tzu
                          Copernicus
                          Bach
                          Newton

All industrial/modern wonders, except of course Longevity.

I play on Monarch. Especially with 1.17f, building all of the wonders just ain't gonna happen. With 1.16 I used to be able to nail every wonder from the middle ages onward, if I had a really good game going. With 1.17, I've had to sacrifice some of the M.A. wonders.

In the game I've got going now, I'm HIGHLY annoyed that the AI beat me to Univ. Suffrage. I was distracted by that Cavalry and riflemen sent by that Mother@#$*r Shaka, while Joan of Arc built it. I'm slugging it out, because otherwise I'm doing quite well, and it's a bit late in the game to quit.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

It's not really pointless really. It still gives a lot of culture. I haven't compared the numbers, but I suspect it's probably the highest in the game.

The GL gives 6 culture. That's great, but the best is Shakespear - 8 per turn. I think the Sistine gives 6 as well, and maybe Bach.
