Actually... I heard they've all been holed up in an Oklahoma nuclear bunker, working day and night on Sid Meir's Golf...

        Aaaah, the relentless sniping.....

I am surprised too (to move back to the thread topic) that Firaxis doesn't show up here more. And the inactivity of the website is troubling as well. Not that I have slowed down on playing Civ3 one iota....and I do expect another patch or two and an Xpack. But Firaxis, Dan or whoever was responding nicely and professionally for a while when the game first came out. They seemed to let the vitriolic *****ing go without any backlash, and addressed serious issues. I am surprised that hasn't continued. On the other hand, if they have nothing more to say.... ANYTHING else they post only invites the broken record to be restarted.

Maybe they made the right decision anyway. But I wish they'd stop by and simply say "We are making progress on the patch and the editor. Please stay tuned".

I've seen a few Firaxis members sneak in posts on a pretty regular basis, though they slip them in odd threads where they won't be noticed. They were decimated in pitched discussion, so they've had to retreat and turn to using guerrilla PR tactics.

Because they have nothing to say for sure, and won't give false info away ? If this is the reason, I consider them as intelligent, since they learned from their past experience...
Curiously enough, when ppl ask them politely questions they can answer, they do : exposing precisely what affects culture flipping is a good example, but Soren answered plenty of questions concerning the game mechanics.
But if you ask why Firaxis doesn't answer every post adressing to them here (contrary to Libertarian who always answers "they won't answer you" to a post adressed to them), it's because no one has posting in Poly as his full-time job : Morris is responsible for the QA, Magaha is student and Johnson is the main programer.
Others don't bother anymore (if they ever had) to come here.

If you want to see latest posts from Firaxis, do like me : press "search", then ask to "match partial name" Firaxis, and show results as posts". You'll see they have answered some things, sometimes off-topic, but sometimes informing about the game as it is presently, and not about how it will be.

Most of their posts were so useless they have been considered being sort of provocative rather, so, perhaps, they are doing better not posting at all...

And by 'noise' we assume you mean complaints. And by complaints, we assume you don't want to hear them. And by not wanting to hear them, we assume you are doing a piss-poor job as the QA director.

Move along. Nothing to see here....

That's nice, Jeff. While you are spending your "Poly time", guess what I'm doing? Not playing Civ III. Why not? Because patch 1.16f has a tech-trading bug that allows the AI to trade during your turn which makes playing with the patch pointless. And I'm not playing Civ III without the patch for the multitude of reasons a patch was necessary. While you browse the forums you mentioned are you enjoying some pizza and beer with the $50 I paid for Civ III? Good. Because while you're doing that guess what I'm doing? Not playing Civ III.
