and I suppose it's true. Just imagine all the new
opportunities to make war scenarios, where
maintaining the supplylines is vital for survival.

your territory. At least you know what to protect.
Hopefully such things come out in the diplomacy screen, and if the AI really makes a concerted effort to get what it wants/needs, that would be awesome.
That would bring so much more life to the game, IMO.
